Both the compressor and turbine side of the turbo should be dry. Once you see blue smoke it is either engine or turbo produces that. Have to rell which one it is by looking at charge tubes, header , and exhaust. These turbo go thru alot of abuse wheel speeds 100k-150k and you thought a phazer...
weld a nut or try to drill but becareful when drilling so the drill bit don't walk the cast iron will drill very easy. otherwise I have a new turbo in stock.
Same size wheel it looks to be "billet" which be stronger if correct material it used. They claim it is only changed in the exducer is the "extended tip tech" which does work in other applications that I have seen. They said quicker spool and 10 degrees drop in temp. Just info they emailed me back.
If I where to guess when a turbo makes it 1000 miles or km's and it fails very good chance that the cause of failure is something beyond the turbo. Ie. most people don't let them idle after they just been hammering down the trail. You need to let the engine idle to stabilize the oil temp before...
Just a FYI I'm stocking a couple sidewinder turbos I have one right now and will be getting in another one some straight from IHI. Just in case someone has a problem and the factory doesn't have one it is the latest IHI number. These are stock just as they came from Yamaha.
