I’ve only done it with the 1049 stub so it’s all I can vouch for. Don’t have a 973 to compare to.

My best guess is that it has tighter tolerances on the splines. I tried to measure/compare to the Sidewinder stub shaft but it's pretty tough to do with a set of Vernier calipers, which is all I have.

Or the option that I've posted in this thread (and also 2 years ago). 23 pages and counting and I don't see any solution - other than my own - that demonstrably eliminates the issue. Not saying there aren't others out there, but I thinks my videos speak for themselves. I wouldn't discount them...

There's a Nytro stub shaft on eBay right now for $95.00, and the bearing is about $25. I'd pay $120 all day long to make this noise go away! I did my sled 2 years ago and it was as quiet when I sold it in April as the day I put the stub/bearing in (mine is the 2017 on previous page).

Bearing on its own hasn't yielded the results I was looking for. Normal clearance bearing with a Nytro stub shaft however...:

I have a brand new one with stock Viper cam and a pink spring. It's never been on a sled. Bought it to test with on my Winder, never got around to it.
