Although it’s pretty neat to have a low or unique vin.....there is actually multiple #0001 vins. Doo starts the numbers over for each model. I do NOT know if it changes based on specs within each model as well.
There are plenty of members of TY and DOOTalk that may know exactly what...
I decided to finally get around to building a collapsible and stow-able sled hoist. Not to lift the whole sled...but just to lift the back up, or the front. Nothing too glamorous....but workable.
I used steel rectangular tube, and set it in Rapid Track or something. The side posts are held...
I think myself and Stohlem should have said: 3M adhesive tape FOR metal.
It has nothing to do with foil tape. That’s as close to the actual product as Reynolds Wrap and Elmer’s Glue.
Certain adhesives can be solidified and rolled up. This flattened glue can be unrolled and sandwiched...
This 3m adhesive tape was actually just brought up the other day, between myself and my metal dept. Apparently, ambulance back cap units are being assembled with this stuff. I’m not familiar with it....but when it comes up in conversation multiple times.....something is up.
I believe it’s NOT...
I have the TP helix on my SW, with their orange spring. A buddy was riding it for a week, and then a crazy howl and squeal developed.
Broke it open in the trailer and found the typical spring break. Saved the trip by bringing the Yami stock spring......and set it to 3-3.
Any thoughts on the...
This site has taught me: before buying anything....spend time doing so research, become familiar, and ask yourself if there is a support network for the toy you’re buying. This place has saved me a fortune and brought peace of mind.
I wish Yamaha would tap into a lot of the knowledge here, to...
I got my wedge in....but the rotor had no float even before I installed it. I took it to 50 lb, all the way in, minus a hair gap to be able to get a screwdriver in to hold it.
Any concerns about the grease melting and covering the rotor?
Wouldn't the rotor heat the drive shaft and warm the...
Update:
Yamaha and the dealer came through 100%. Took a month and a half, but considering I’m not even close to sled country since I’m guessing the ‘70s....I pretty much expected that. I didn’t buy the sled there, so I’m impressed they’d take it in at all.
I expected to at least get hit for...
I agree with the above statements. I was practically pulling my hair out trying to get the track to run true.
I don’t go crazy firm....but definitely on the snug side.
I found that lube the sliders up fairly good, and get it close in measurements.....very small turns on the adjusters get it...
I took my ‘17 SW LTX LE is for the bearing repair. I had to take it to a dealer I didn’t buy it from. (I did buy my Apex from them though.). They were very professional and honestly, more willing to help than I would have been, considering I didn’t buy it from them.
It felt like I took my boy...
OEM Yamaha isn’t too bad. This was the best option at the time, (pic)
You young whipper-snappers don’t remember the old days....back in ‘17 we had ‘nuthin, and was glad for it. The Yamaha catalog for the Sidewinder was a hand drawn picture taped in the regular catalog page for Vipers. 3 of...
I could really use some help:
I ordered a new NACHI bearing. With the new bearing, and my worn shaft....the difference will be .55mm.
With the BoP expander and green bearing compound.....will I be ok?
I have a warranty....but with shafts back ordered, I’m afraid I’ll be waiting into Jan...
The Roofer eh.? Me too. 26 years of commercial, out in the Midwest....but grew up in the Lehigh Valley. I miss the skiing and the Yacco’s hot dogs, and of course the cheese steaks.
I made a trip to Tug Hill and a full circuit through NY. I rode my Sidewinder. Apparently what the rest of...
Other than what you mentioned, as well as the muffler bolt getting anti-seize.....I would do the following:
Replace the muffler torx bolts with standard bolts. Buy extra and replace every so often after disassembly, or perhaps find high quality bolts?
Check your chain case sight glass. I’ve...
Long time Waverunner / Super Jet owner....going back to the mid ‘90s. I thought about posting pictures over the last few years of various pwc repairs, and especially during the Great Yamaha 2-Stroke Debates....as the Yami Super Jet is a 2 stroke 700 they’ve made forever.
I recently picked up...
