Almost sounds like it's running short of fuel at high RPM. Could it be something as simple as dirty injectors, maybe caused by a load of #*$&@ gas? My first response to any engine stumble at any RPM is to try adding Sea Foam. It's surprising how often that takes care of the problem. Just a thought.

One last thought - have you checked the EXUP valve? Broken cable or malfunctioning/out of adjustment exhaust valve would cause off idle response issues. And you would not see that on a plug check.

The medium height windshield SMA-8HG96-20-BK does not require, or come with the support brackets. Those brackets are only used/needed for the tall windshield.

Try a fuel additive to clean the injectors. Dirty injectors could cause lean high rpm running and occasional stumble at idle. Try about 10 oz. of Sea Foam in your next tank of gas and then the stock settings might be OK. Good idea to do this yearly anyway.
