    air box

Just did this last night. I used silicone grease around the inside of the rubber boots, made sure none of them were folded over. It was impossible to get all 4 when they were dry...once lubed up they slid right into place. You can tell if they're on all the way by looking ins from the airbox...

Help- Can't get chaincase cover off

If you think getting it off was a pain, wait til you try to put it back on. You have to fiddle with the reverse dogs and get them lined up right, and dont' forget that little spring in the reverse idler.

    Apex ER or GT?

I put a pair o f Slydog Powderhounds on it, added a pair of Silverstars, a 13 mm sway bar, CR10EKs, and I dropped the upper gear by one tooth. The plugs and the gear thing made little difference...the skis, lights and sway bar were significant. I did put a higher windshield on it, and I put a...

    Apex ER or GT?

I test rode an Apex ER against a GT before I bought. Noticeable difference IMHO. GT hands down.

    07 Attak GT and ethanol??

What kind of fuel additive are you talking about? What do you think you need to compensate for?

hit a tree, think its totaled

Agree. Usually, the dealer ends up with first crack at the buy-back due to relationship with adjuster (either under or over-the-table), or due to proximity. Or in some cases, there even gets to be a little bidding war between owner and dealer. In any case, a $500 would be extraordinary, and...

    Did Ulmer's dissembly post disappear

The post shows you how to get to the spark plugs, but doesn't actually tell you how to remove them. It's pretty evident once you get there though. You do need to remove the coolant reservoir. When you first see the arrangement, you may think that getting the plugs out isn't possible. It is...

True or False...Fuel causeing blown motors in North East

Agree completely. E10 = no problem. Now, I don't entirely buy the environmental advantages - too much politics in ethanol. But it doesn't damage engines.

    The Big 4 Disapointe us!

New sleds from any mfgr = new tooling, new marketing, new dealer training, new warranty claims. Too expensive these days in a decreased toy market. We'll know in a few hours, I guess, but I'd be astonished if Doo came up with any significant new models.

    180HP Late Realease Apex????

Ho ho...you already violated your NDA.... ...wish I had a nickel for every time I've seen "the inside scoop" posted on the internet.

    180HP Late Realease Apex????

Heh. I do enjoy these discussion forums... ;)! I can see how this thread is going to play out - it's going to be just like the 2010 new model scenario....the same self-building hype, everybody making everybody else increasingly certain that some new Yamaha sled is going to be released. Then...

    TORS disconection Safe??

I must disagree. TORS has been one of the most consistently problematic snowmobile inventions since it was introduced more than 20 years ago. In the years I've owned Yamahas, I can't even remember how many times I've had to temporarily bypass it, nor how many disconnect-lanyards I've installed...

    TORS disconection Safe??

No...other than the obvious safety issue, there is no worry about bypassing TORS

    Newest negative rumor

Somebody will buy Yamaha's snowmobile division? LOL. No, that's not going to happen. If Yamaha goes down, it's done.

Does a 16" tall OEM windshield require support bars?

IIRC, the new model OEM windshield doesn't use support brackets. About 1000 miles ago, I opted for a Cobra tall windshield. No brackets, works great even at 100mph.

    Changing drive chain seal

Not a recall. The way it was explained to me is that it's not even a "service bulletin". However, apparently if you take your 06 into your Yamaha dealer and tell them that you have a chaincase leak, they'll submit it to their Yamaha service rep to see if they'll replace it with the updated...

    Changing drive chain seal

Adjusting your track tension is detailed in the owner's manual. If you don't have one, you can download a non-printable version for your sled from Yamaha's website http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/myyam ... there.aspx Pulling the chaincase cover on a Yamaha with reverse is a little...

    07 Apex Gt Rear skid

At 265, your problem with soft suspension is more likely the spring. It would likely be cheaper to pull the Ohlin shock and spring, send the shock to Pioneer and get it revalved, and get a heavier spring. You can call Bruce there, tell him what you weigh and how you ride, he'll fix you right up...
