I believe that ground loop goes under the actual jack for the return. I did the same thing several years ago and the helmet shield didn't work until I moved the wire off the frame and screwed it in under the rca jack.

Hate to say it but it's probably the starter. Try jumping the relay with some pliers or something. If the starter turns over its the relay, if not sorry.

Even with the motor lifted it’s tight. You have to first get the snout of the starter out of the motor. I pried it back with a screwdriver. Then you have to find the perfect combination to wiggle the starter out. We had to unhook a cooling hose on venture we just did. A gear wrench works...
