OEM shock - blown and blown open
Replaced with hygear shock body setup. Blown and Blew apart.
As far as i can tell there are not many options. fleabay used OEM, BOP cheapo replacement, or a very expensive aftermarket shock like Axis or Exit.
Are there not HPG's or some other shock from a...
Just over 14k on the Nytro to date and I love the unruly beast every time I ride it. It’s a slug off trail though, after some seat time on summits, M8 and a freeride I realize I need a mountain sled for the deep stuff.
We have some serious deep snow this year. Pic taken yesterday.
Sorry to...
6000 miles out of a track is terrible. What are the conditions you guys ride in?
I got 10k out of the stock ripsaw on my xtx. Replaced with a composite 1.5” and now I’m no longer running studs. 4K miles on the composite talon so far (I think it’s the 38 if I remember correctly). It...
Border pic is me on the right.
The crew in a field.
Another amazing field in the county.
And last is the trackdown lodge in Ft Kent. Great place.
Pics don’t do it justice as you know the snow is very deep. 3’ base :)
Confirmed the small idlers are 6005’s.
Also the small idlers are like the 2 outside axle wheels, you can’t replace bearings. On the newer models with updated wheels the bearings are all replaceable. Not sure what year the change took place.
So I have new idlers on order.
I am at 12,067 miles which converts to about 19,419 kms.
With the exception of the 2 outside rear axle wheels all of my bearings are original. They all have a little play now and it's time to replace. The amazing thing is all the bearings still spin freely.
Just got back from a 420 mile ride...
I have been searching and can't seem to find a complete list of bearings, i want to get them ordered and have them before i pull the skid and so i'm looking for the numbers now instead of reading what's on the bearings.
This is for a 2009 xtx, but I'm sure might apply to other models.
So far...
Hmmmmmm ....I just saw offset in there, will have to look some more.
Just ordered an alignment tool from Ulmer, and Allen gave me some quick instructions on the phone. Maybe I’ll do a pictorial.

Are there instruction on how to align the clutches somewhere, did some searches but coming up empty.
I want to know how to make sure the clutch are parallel. The offset I understand using shims on both the clutch shaft and with the 3 deflection bolts on the back.
It’s instructions on moving...
Yamaha agreed to pay for an aftermarket rear axle which also eliminated the tri hub. Not sure if he’s ridden it yet since.

Yes, always do + changed the oil filter. Only happened once and was on a very cold day. I rode a bunch of times after the oil change with no issues.

Some oil was sucked into the air box on start up. Happened to me last weekend. Don’t think it was you filter.
Pop off the hood and look in the air box, you’ll probably see some oil in there.

With high mileage I’d worry about:
1. conditions of the bushings and bearings in the suspension and driveline.
2. Condition of the clutches.
3. Condition of the track.
If those items have been addressed I’d feel ok about it.
