I don’t mind doing maintenance as I haul this thing to Texas every other year to maintain it. If I recall correctly the new oil filter was installed in March of 2018 so this is actually its 4th year. Last time I ran the sled was pre-covid (stayed home 2021) and changed oil only in March of...
I know there has been a lot of discussion on when to replace the oil filter and most seem to replace yearly or every other year, but how long is too long to use the same filter? has anyone continued to use the same filter for years do to low mileage? I am probably coming up on 5 years on my...
Worked fine thanks for the confirmation. I did end up plugging in the dash though as that was easy, got the check engine light so plugged in the sensor on the air box (mass air flow I guess) and check engine light went out. It only took me an hour of troubleshooting to figure out the kill...
Any issue starting 2012 apex xtx immediately after replacing the battery without putting the air box, headlight, dash, etc back together? I am thinking I can just plug the ignition switch back in and start it, is there anything else I should plug in as to not do any damage?
Thanks all for the info. If/when I decide to replace the track any suggestions on what to replace it with? Should I stay with the factory Ripsaw? Should I consider pre studded track?
2012 apex xtx, I was going to replace my track this year as I think it has almost 8000 miles on it, I am assuming it is the original track. I think from the factory these came with a Camoplast Ripsaw? Can anyone tell if it is indeed a Ripsaw track and more importantly does it need to be...
I have not contacted them but I am interested in a kit for my 2012 APES XTX . Let me know if you find anything out, hoping to get something soon and installed before winter, maybe I have waited to long :-).
Thanks.
I have come up with a new question. I know this sounds really bad but now knowing somewhat how the starter and clutch work, what do you think of me turning the key and engaging the starter after it starts for a split second or two. I did this today and it seemed fine and I could tell the...
Thanks guys! Went to the Yamaha dealer to get my solenoid for my APEX but all they keep in stock anymore is basic stuff (filters and oil). Have to order anything else and wait 3 days. Can't blame them though as the net has really changed things for them I am sure. I'll be nervous until it...
cannondale27 thanks for the info.
Elton can you elaborate a little on reversing the motor? We did that check (turn primary backward) on the trail as a suggestion from this forum to debug if it was the starter locked up or not. We couldn't turn the Vector back at all but no problem on the...
So after reading some more about the solenoid not releasing and causing the starter to run for maybe 35 miles or so do we need to look into anything else other then the starter and the solenoid? It seems there is a clutch/spring and what not that should be checked and possibly replaced as well...
I think you might be right but I have to give him credit for going after it so quick, I would have to spend a week on the forums before I could even start LOL. That being said I have yet to see a simple step by step for replacement of the starter?
Thanks!
Thanks all, especially for the suggestion to look at grizztracks posts, lots of good info out there under grizztracks :-), thats what I needed. I thought we were going to have a convert from Polaris to Yamaha but after it took him 6 hours to remove the starter and who knows how long it will...
This is on my buddy's 2011 Vector that left him stranded yesterday but posting here as the Vector forum doesn't look that active and I assume the starter is pretty much the same on both sleds. We need to get it fixed for big ride next weekend :-).
Anyway the starter solenoid just...
Sorry for the stupid question. I took everything apart this spring and now am trying to get it back together and for the life of me I can't figure out where these go (I assume exhaust somewhere)?
Thanks in advance.
Hibshman25 thank you! I feel a little silly now that I did not catch that as it is literally a less then 30 second fix.. Anyone else ever notice that the longer you struggle with a problem usually the easier the fix. As you suggested no straps needed so now I agree this is a very simple...
