I have that sled, never overheated once, good on trail. You should have the extra idler wheels put on right away. Slides wear fast otherwise. And don't back up with statchers down like my dumb #*$&@ did lol. In two years it has never broke down once and seems to get a lot faster after 1000 miles.
Not sure how you tell how many plys by looking at it but in two years of rougher than average use, I can't really see any damage to the track at all. Other than some frays on the sides that I just burn off it looks new.
There's a rest area right off 8 by oaks pub. Turn left off 51 onto 8 go about 2 miles. It's right by the intersection off the road that goes through town. I see vehicles parked there all the time. Or there's a gas station on 86 just off 51 that has a big lot also.
Was watching this and Wondering what the complete 8 but part number is because on a search it shows several. 17 btx looking for better takeoff. Also any other associated parts needed. I'm dumb on abreviations so very simplistic answers needed lol. Thanks
My slides always wear most in the center before front and back. Yes lack of snow is no help. Anyone know where to get them, part numbers, etc. Also how many to add and will it help or be a waste of my time. Thanks
I have that same sled. I never had any of the problems everyone talks about on here. Just a cracked turbo cover that Yamaha is replacing. Just do the regular checks on the sled and adjustments and they run fine. The seat is soft and skis work good. There isn't much snow so I mostly trail ride...
Steal your wife's cardboard roll out of the paper towels, cut the end open on top, install through access hole take plug out. And what do you know the oil goes down the tube into the drain pan. Easy and costs zero dollars.
I used a torch tip cleaner kit to release the pin, that was easy compared to pulling the plastic plate towards you 1/8 inch, there is no great way to grab it, I ended up hooking it with my 5 dollar o ring removal hook.
My neighbor has a remote tether on his Polaris, all he does is carry a key fob looking thing in his pocket and that kills the sled if he falls off. Not sure where he got it.
The one they give you at the dealership when you hand them 45.00, then you spend a hour installing because the directions aren't clear about how to release the pins.
Conditions are certainly not great but the sled ran good. Rode pretty easy most of the day, did crack it open on a road and hit 121 very easily, had more to go for sure wasn't topped out. I'd say it sounds most like a jet plane more anything else I can think of. It's all stock so far. Handled...
Same exact sled I have, same deal here, not enough snow until today. Also have 3 lakes to cross to go anywhere and they may be close to being thick enough. So so far just sitting in the garage, have to live through all you guys for now.
I got tired of looking so made my own. I just ordered pron open cell foam and cut my own with a utility knife. Look great and was cheap. Make sure to get adhesive back and heat it to set the glue with a hair dryer. I would post a pic but can't for some reason. I used 1/4 inch foam, looks factory...
It was colder today and haven't heard the noise yet. I did loosen the cap up. There's hardly any gas in the tank. Can't believe sitting on the seat causes the tank to vent but ok that may be it. Very strange sound.
