With a heat shield that extends slightly past the tank edge or even around it, it should work. I am usually on my last bar while most others are just below if not at half. I do abuse the fun flipper though. But, isn't that what its for. The XTX begs for it!

Very nice setup. I am still running the stock exhaust with the Yamaha turn out. I tried the skinz under tunnel briefly but it created a lot of ice. Without the stock exhaust I'm sure it could be made to work just fine I had a similar heat shield and the exhaust heat still got around and melted...
