need help with my first blown belt ever

You better check the adjustment screws on the back of the secondary. I believe there are three of them. They get worn on the tips and if left too long they can ruin the threads when you try and remove them. I left mine too long and they messed up the threads. Luckily the threads were still...

    Rear suspension problem--need HELP!!!!!

Went spearfishing on Saturday. Worked on other sled Sunday. Got mad and took the sled out and jumped some ditches. Figured it would work or break. It took the abuse. I have 2" of sag on it now. I think that MIGHT be acceptable with a 162" x 3" track?????? Just hope the new track doesn't...

    Rear suspension problem--need HELP!!!!!

This is what I have been thinking all along. I am just not seeing the problem though. I have a totally stock Apex sitting by mine and everything looks the same. All the arms are angled the same. Shocks have the same amount of shaft showing. Springs are the same length. I am just not seeing...

    Rear suspension problem--need HELP!!!!!

No such thing as a dumb question right now. I repacked the bearings on all the wheels. No extra parts left over so it is all mounted back where it belongs.LOL As for the right track, it is the same part number (9944M). I crawled down into the garbage pit on Saturday to even check that...

    Rear suspension problem--need HELP!!!!!

I think I am going to give up on this suspension. I really hate to because this thing worked great. I have a Fastrax M10 sitting here that I never mounted. Think I am going to mount that up and part out the stocker. If anyone has any other ideas offer them up. I don't care if it sounds...

    Rear suspension problem--need HELP!!!!!

Still no luck. Took a BUNCH of measurements off of other sled. Everything matches. I got mad and picked the back of the sled up and slammed it up and down. Seemed like the track was tighter. It was almost touching the rails. Thought it was fixed. Raised it way up in the air and started...

    Rear suspension problem--need HELP!!!!!

Speared=stabbed. The track window slips over the front of the rail and all hell breaks loose. On mine I magically got both sides to do it at once and it ripped the track in half. The loose end then flopped around the back wheels and nailed the back bumper and dented the tunnel. When...

    Rear suspension problem--need HELP!!!!!

Take a Hike, Thanks a bunch for the extra work. People like you is what makes this sport great. People helping others just because they can and enjoy it. Wish this type of behavior would spread to the rest of the world. I think mine will be a different length as it is a mountain sled...

    Rear suspension problem--need HELP!!!!!

You guys might be on to something when I think about it. Both limiter straps broke when the track was speared. I make my own straps. I used the two pieces of broken strap for measurement to make the new ones. I wonder if they weren't totally stretched out before they finally snapped...

    Rear suspension problem--need HELP!!!!!

Both limiter straps broke when it speared the track. I have since installed new ones. I will try tightening them up but don't think that is the problem. ANY ideas will help me get this figured out. Thanks for the help.

    Rear suspension problem--need HELP!!!!!

I will try and keep this as short as possible. The sled is a 2006 Apex MTN with the stock rear suspension and a MMI 8" rear wheel kit. The chaincase is rolled. There is a Boondocker turbo on it but that isn't the problem. It had a 162" by 2.5" camo extreme track. Last year I speared the...

When to change my apex chain

2000 miles and broke a chain. Then again 350 HP might have caused that chain to break. I replace my chain every other year. I lucked out when the chain broke. It somehow piled up in the chaincase and didn't wreck anything else.

Quick question about trailer ski guide installation

Just drill and slot some holes if you are worried about it. I had the same guides and mine had holes on both ends.

Limiter strap made of 10,000# polyester webbing vs stock?

I looked at that link. It looks like the material used in truck ratchet straps. Go buy a set of straps for $20 and cut off enough to make your limiters and still have a set of ratchet straps.LOL

Limiter strap made of 10,000# polyester webbing vs stock?

Break strength is different than shock strength. A steady even pull will take more force than a shock force. For $6 it is still well worth a try. I have replaced mine with belting material and had excellent results. I bought the black belting from off of a combine that spreads the stuff...

    did i blow the motor...?

Sounds like what just happened to me only mine was a turbo. It looks like the valves are toast and maybe the entire engine. I didn't have high enough octane in the tank and pushed it too hard. We dumped in some 102 octane but didn't account for the old fuel that was in the tank from last...

    broken headlight pod!!

Mine has been broke for two years. Not worth fixing. Light stays in place even on bad rollover. I have a new light but screw it. I will just break it again anyways.

    TRX1 chain

I change mine every other year. If you have ever had one come apart and had to replace the chaincase and other parts you know the price of a new chain is cheap. I am not saying that a new chain can't break but I would think a worn out one is WAY worse. I have broke a chain twice now on...

    Limiter straps-when to replace?

Replace now and carry one of the old ones as a spare. Trust me if you break one way back in the backcountry it is NO fun. We dropped down in a hell hole a couple years ago and I thought we were screwed. Last day of the trip, 20 miles from the truck and almost zero visiblity. No chance a...
