Track shock lengths on sidewinder mtx/btx model years.

They should be the same length. Normally with Cat/Yamaha mountain sleds, the basic suspension parts are the same. The difference in track length occurs behind the rear scissor mounting point on the rail. (the rails are shorter or longer, behind the scissor mount) That being said, there can be a...

2018 Sidewinder MTX parasitic draw, new battery already dead

Not sure if you found your draw yet. But on a Viper, if you leave the key on and shut the sled off with the handle bar kill switch (like you would on a 2 stroke) there is a power relay that can stay energized. Normally it will draw about 20 to 25 milli-amps and the dash will not be illuminated...

    998 Winder Weight Reduction

I got 10 years out of my Shorai battery and used it in 3 different sleds;-) With that kind of service I would definitely buy another one. I agree it's fairly difficult and expensive to pull much weight out of a sled. Use to be that you could swap a skid out and save 25-35 pounds, but when...

    It’s finally over for Yamaha

Sad to see Yamaha exit the market. Like many of us, I've owned several Yamaha sleds over the years and have fond memories of all of them.

    Shovel Bag Setup

I use this one https://www.countrycat.com/parts-accessories/snowmobile-accessories/snow-accessories/snow-bags-packs/arctic-cat-8639-031-mid-size-shovel-pack-tunnel-bag-2010-2023-blast-riot-xf-m on my Cat which I believe will fit Sidewinders as well. It is fairly streamlined and holds a fair...

    Sidewinder Alpha conversion questions

Should be a fun project! It's kind of to bad that Cat didn't come out with the Alpha skid while Yamaha and Cat were still making multiple four stroke mountain sleds. If they had, they possibly would still be making multiple models, as the skid holds almost no snow for a noticeable real world...

    Sidewinder Alpha conversion questions

I did an Alpha conversion on a 18 Mountain Cat, but have not done one on a Sidewinder. The 2 stroke/Alpha axle shaft is aluminum and I believe the hex size is larger than your steel Sidewinder shaft. Also the Alpha drivers are fairly large and require a drop/rolled chain case in order to fit the...

    2023 Sidewinder MTX

Mounting points in the tunnel are the same. Difference in skid length, is from where the rear scissor arm attaches to the rail and rearward. If your long tracking a XTX to 162", pretty much just need the longer rear tunnel half, longer bumper and the longer skid. It is possible to use longer...

2008 Yamaha fx Nytro mcxpress 270 blows oil out of tank vent when I wheelie

During normal engine operation, there is always air exiting the breather. The higher the RPM, the greater the air flow, which is why the breather hose is so large (5/8" diameter). Most likely what is happening, is when you wheelie, the tank is becoming more "horizontal" which allows oil to flow...

New Chassis for Arctic Cat for 2024 to be announced at Haydays!

Two stroke Cats also spin the engine backwards for reverse also. They have been doing that way for years as well. It would be interesting to see if someone could come with a belt drive system that has the capability to have reverse for four strokes. Probably would save a fair amount of weight.

    Handle Bar Vibrations

Yeah, it helps with that as well. I had numb hands concerns when driving a car for extended periods of time. I ended up having to get carpal and cubical tunnel surgery in both hands/elbows (each side at different times) to fix that. 40+ years of impact tool use hasn't been kind to my hands...

    Handle Bar Vibrations

Ctec-2, mostly at lower RPM. It's about the same as other 800 2 strokes, but I use to smoother running 4 strokes ;)

    Handle Bar Vibrations

Yeah, cables and brake hose are long enough no prob. When I first installed it, I had it in the lower rise position. Since then, I flipped the bracket around to put it in the taller position. I prefer my handle bars higher for mountain riding.

    2015 vs 2016 spindles

Probably not a bad price if in good shape, to bad he doesn't have the shocks though. You could probably have Cannondale27 here on TY shorten your existing shocks. I've used him in the past for re-valving/upgrades and have been happy with the results.;)!

    Handle Bar Vibrations

No complaints at all. You will notice some flex while sitting on the sled in the shop. Essentially because the steering post/bars at now mounting in poly bushings. You don't notice the flex while riding though. It doesn't completely eliminate all vibration, but it does a vast majority of it...

    Handle Bar Vibrations

Yeah, pretty easy. The instructions state that you can position the spacer washers in different locations. This allows you to adjust the dampening effect. I have mine on the softest setting. They also have two different durometer bushings available. The Red ones are the standard, while the Blue...

    Handle Bar Vibrations

I have a Iso-vibe on my 800 Cat. My hands are sensitive to vibration due to years of abuse from impact tools and the Iso-vibe helps a significant amount. https://www.gripnripracing.com/index.php?id_product=143&controller=product

Adjusting rear end suspension for a bit more load carrying

If you have a Float (air shock) on the rear, normally just adding air pressure will do the trick. It's what I have done in the past when riding two up. If your rear shock has a spring, you can increase the spring preload. The front skid shock doesn't make a huge difference in load carrying...
