If it won't do 110, then it isn't 40mph faster than me because I *CAN* do 70 mph... actually a little over. Especially when its cold out with a little chop. 26 pitch, stock gearing. Zero slip at 5500 maths out to 72.8, add a little slip and spin it a little over and you can see how it works...

I wish my apex had carbs

EFI gets just as dirty as carbs. The only differences is that you CAN'T clean it. If you're constantly having to go and clean out the carbs, it means you're doing something wrong.

Great article on 2011 Apex EXUP

Well as I've mentioned, its not that big of a deal. The main thing is that this is designed as a retrofit to an existing engine design rather than being a whole new engine. It is much easier and less expensive to make changes like this (cams + exhaust + intake) than it is to design a new...

Proven. Irrelevant. It was sold AS a polaris, BY polaris dealers, and the hull, though OUTSOURCED, was built for THAT SPECIFIC BOAT, which happened to be sold ONLY BY POLARIS. Your logic simply does not follow. You sure were. You were proven incapable of performing a TRIVIAL SEARCH.

I don't believe you that your boat can go 110 mph... How much does it burn at 45-50 mph (to compare to the top end of a jetdrive)?

My point is very simple if you people would get your heads out of your asses and actually try to understand things rather than just blindfolding yourselves when faced with the possibility that there is actually something BETTER or MORE INTELLIGENT than your own choice. Take two thing, they do...

Moron. Kinda hard to enjoy your boat when its blowing $100/hr in fuel and tops out at 45.

I wish my apex had carbs

EFI is fine... if you're a WOMAN. You really can't crank the choke over and know when to pull it back? Fuel pump relay won't affect 03-05 since there IS NONE!!! Problem is that fuel injectors require high fuel pressure in order to squirt the fuel in -- carbs would work with just GRAVITY...

Your float height is simply wrong if this is happening to you.

Looks comfy. I try to avoid jetboats though... they're bad on fuel and take WAY more power to move as a result of the inefficiency of having to suck the fuel through the pump. Right now I've got one of these (2001): http://www.yamaha-motor.com/outboard/pr ... specs.aspx On one of these...

    2011 Apex vs. 2011 Vector

If my math is correct, they could bore out the phazer engine to 600cc by increasing the bore from 77mm to 84mm, and slap on an exup (or even better, VVT) to make a real wicked 100-110 hp sled.... a little less "vertical" of a chassis would go nice along with it though... I wonder if there's...

No need to be sarcastic. I am very serious about this. Remember that if you disable this safety device, YOU ARE PERSONALLY LIABLE for what happens. Your insurance WILL NOT COVER YOU for damages caused by INTENTIONALLY DISABLING SAFETY DEVICES. Read your insurance policy if you don't...

    carb updates

Carb float bowl and main jet. The main jet in the newer versions (04-05) is a little longer and has an o-ring on the bottom to fit into the bowl. The purpose of this is to ensure that there is always fuel at the main jet even when the sled is standing at weird angles. This update is more...

    2011 Apex vs. 2011 Vector

The weight difference won't make much difference. There really isn't much weight difference at all. The sleds being compared are RS/RX not FX/RX. I would go with the XTX on account of TRACK LENGTH. Honestly though, I would prefer it with a MUCH SMALLER engine -- 110 hp would be about perfect.

Great article on 2011 Apex EXUP

Wouldn't expect it to... the restriction has to be at the right place and the right amount in order for it to reflect the pressure waves properly. Remember that the exhaust system was designed by a room full of japanese engineers with pocket protectors -- wasn't just a matter of blocking it off.

It will definitely come to that eventually. Probably hit the lower power sleds first, likely the 120 and 130 Vectors (or whatever there is when it hits), VK, etc. These sleds are intended to be somewhat moderate/practical, so robbing them a little bit won't make too much of a difference.

    Anyone ditch the thumb throttle?

*** one of the reasons why a twist throttle doesn't work so good on a sled (aside from the ice problem) has to do with the CVT TRANSMISSION!!! Bikes have fixed shift points. Sleds don't. Because the drive ratio adapts to torque, the required throttle position isn't linear or constant for a...

    Need help understanding TORS !!!

KEEP THE TORS CONNECTED!!!! It is there to prevent the thing from keeping on going in the event that the throttle ices up and either you panic or you fall off (happens). Imagine how many people you can kill with a sled stuck at FULL OPEN without a rider on it!!!! If you INSIST on disabling...

If I go through one more set of sliders I swear......

Because the track stays straight rather than shaking around like an idiot. Loose track also slows you down and increases fuel consumption.
