There's a fault code flashing, or solid showing along with that red light. The red light doesn't come on by itself without a code. Find the code and report back or look it up yourself. I'll almost bet it's code 84, TORS.

Start with a fresh set of plugs. Sounds like one or more is wet and/or carbon fouled. That's the sooty, rich exhaust smoke. Have you been starting it and shutting it off before it gets up to operating temp??

What is/are you calling a low idle? 1550-ish is what they are supposed to idle at. How many miles are on it? Has it always done this, or something new?

Yes. I personally know the couple I bought them from, and neither sled was ever messed with. Only thing I've done is the soft start springs. Again, it's gotta be fuel/air delivery the way i can get it to stutter/chop if I hold it at that certain throttle position and then with very little imput...

It's definitely stiffer than a Monoshock. I added fx nytro springs to both my XTX'S and it made a nice difference.
