I think I bought the shortest carbide, 4.5 ins., but they track much better than dooleys. They were 60 bucks each Canadian, but are way cheaper than new skiis. Honest, these things are terrific on a phazer.
The snow won't stop coming down. A real treat, unlike the past few years, to ride AFTER I buy my license sticker. Central Ontarians, post a pic or two, of the snow today.
i installed the woodys slim jim dooleys ( thats a mouthful) on the phazer two years ago. they are by far the best mod you can make for handling. i tried a new single carbide last week end for a test and found the sled undriveable. dual carbides of any brand are the way to go but i have found the...
Groomer layed down a great, smooth trail, which obviously I couldn't follow. I hit a pile of snow that was really a rock pile with lots of stumps. The sled barrel rolled and I did some kind of Superman thing. Wish I was Superman cause it hurt a lot. Usually I have a helmet cam running that...
I think I have been upside down on my Phazer more than any other sled I've owned. Getting to old for crashing. Glad you didn't get hurt as bad as me. Crutches for two weeks and complete front cage and A arms for the sled.
just an update on the slide wear. have over 2500 km on these same slides and will run them for this season too. this year I also have installed a freeride so it should be a test this year. I will post pics soon.
the shocks control that tippy feeling, not the srings. too many just crank up more pre load. turn the adjusters in all the way, especially if you have a lot of miles on the sled. they are only good for about 3000 miles then they need rebuilding. they really require more damping and a good...
i removed mine last year as it never felt stable anyway. had all shocks revalved by Accelerated Technologies, and it is truly amazing this year. still no sway bar
. i highly recommend figuring out the dampening before you look for a new sway bar. the stock Yamaha package is less than capable...
Second year I had my sled the same thing happened. We rode all day breaking trails when the sled just quit. I opened the air box and it was packed with snow. We cleaned it all out and limped back home. I improved the seal to the air box and never had trouble again. The deep powder snow can...
I have had my boot get caught in the foot well more times than not. One time sent me to the hospital. You can't remove them as they are a support feature on the tunnel. Easiest fix is to get some ABS pipe and cut two pieces four inches long. Split it the other way and put over the toe hold. It...
just an update on the hy fax wear. after 1000 km there is no appreciable wear on the sliders( at the famous wear point on the rail curve). the fix cost about 10 bucks and was easy to do.
white wheels are not available. stock wheels are black. bearings are pressed on to the shaft. changed all of my wheels this fall, and it was needed too. don't want to trash the skid.
woodys make an updated dual runner called the slim jim. these are probably the best and cheapest fix. cures darting and pushing in the corners. they come in 4 in, 6 in and 10 in. i bought the 6 in and have been totally impressed. gives the XP guys red faces trying to keep up.
I moved the spring perch back one hole and shortened the spring tail by one and three quarters of an inch. Will be no issue. Actually should change spring rate slightly softer. At this point it is an experiment, want snow to test. Come on snow.
I wasn't impressed with the slide wear last year, so I decided to tweak the suspension. I removed the two outboard wheels and moved them forward to the area where greatest wear is. I hope this change will increase the life of the slides,at least for a season.
