06 Rage...Motor Shut Down

Unfortunately, with the failure rate being a statistical number of less than 1%, most dealers chose to ignore the fact themselves.
Which is complete bullshit. It was warranty work, guaranteed payment for the work, unlike the possibility of getting screwed by the customer.
The bulletin said replacement of said part if audible noise. A REAL GOOD dealer "heard the noise" for their customer, updated the tensioner & kept him/her on the trail & not sitting along side it with a destroyed valvetrain & possibly cracked pistons.
Statistically less than 1%, until it happens to you... then it's 100%.

I'm back!!!!!

How do you know it's less than 1%? You'd have to be real deep in Yamaha Corporate to know the true figure.

Yes....a good dealer should have replaced the tensioner under warranty (mine did).

If it is the CCT, replace the entire motor......give barnofparts.com a call.

Word came down today, it was the CCT. Destroyed the head and valve train, pistons and push rods and somehow the crank broke. The only thing that was salvageable is the block ....dealer said find a used motor. Expensive lesson!

Well that sucks! Contact barnofparts.com for prices on used motors.
