06 RS Venture
Hey guys,
I’ve been hanging out on the 2-smoke side for a few years now but it was time to go 4-stroke. I got a heck of a deal on an 06 venture so I scooped it up. I'm going to be selling my viper and I know I'm going to miss it. But we have a baby on the way and there isn’t room (or budget) for 2 sleds. I have been doing a lot of reading so I can get a handle on this chassis and model. I have a long list of items to change and update so I’ll just list them. Feel free to jump in guys and help me out if you would.
Can I stud the 144x1.25 ripsaw without doing anything? I had read a few posts about shimming the back of the protectors on ventures but I thought that was the newer models.
Is a 2”riser ok without getting longer cables?
Is there a good clutch setup for the venture? I'm not looking to drag race (ok maybe a little), just want to get a little more out of it.
Are the front and skid shocks interchangeable with other aluminum ones? I see mine are steel body.
Also, I'm in the middle of making a wheelchair rack for this sled. This will be the 5th one I have made. The cargo rack is a great (and solid) mounting point. This is (so far) the easiest one I have made. I'll get some pics up when I get into it further. I'm looking forward to getting this sled out on the trail!
Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give,
Jason

Jason I greatly look forward to this build! I don't know a lot myself but I don't know how much you like to test and tune your sleds but from my research is these 4 strokers are lugged down and according to some have a rather abrupt engagement. I haven't gotten a peak rpm number yet but once I find it I plan to build a clutch set up. Good luck with your new venture and I am curious how they handle two up so post reviews haha.

Sparks flying! I'll post some pics tomorrow.

So here it is. All stock. I started with a 2" riser and then dug into the wheelchair carrier. For those of you on the smoke free side here is the "rest of the story".

The backrest makes a good mounting point because it is VERY sturdy. I just need to make a frame and drill the holes the same as the backrest and it will mount the same and have easy on and off.

This is as far as I got last night.

Looks great I cant wait to see the finished product! If you get a chance when she's done add a youtube link of the mount in action. I love all the creative things guys do here and the skill they do it with! jdp

This is all freehand with an angle grinder. Imagine what I could do with a water jet! :)

DONE! Ready for some snow now! It works very well. Better than I thought it would. I'll try to get a video this weekend so you can see the change over. Very easy...

More pictures if you click on one and go to the photobucket...

Got a set of floats from another member. Looking for some for the skid yet too.
Im working on a video as well.
