hey guys i have been looking all over the internet trying to find a manual for my sled (2005 rs vector) with no luck. I just bought the sled knowing it was going to need a stator but I did not know how impossibly hard it was going to be, I am no novice mechanic but I cant see any possible way to get the engine out as the cases on both sides of the frame hang over about an inch any help would be greatly appreciated
thanks
thanks

vip will help you out.
as much as you would like to get this job done without having to remove the engine, the truth is it will be 1000 times easier if you do. once you drain the fluids, disconnect the electrical harness (easy) and then remove the top aluminum frame body. after that its peanuts to pull the engine, check your chain tensioner and exhaust gaskets while you have it out

Alright so I went ahead and figured out how to do it without the manual. to replace the stator on an 05 rs vector you have to take off the oil tank, steering bar, exuast, moter mounts, secondary cluch( have to take this off to get out one of the moter mounts), airbox/ battery, upper frame support, seat/ gas tank(to get to exuast), both side plastic peices, as well the handle bars and all of the connections and cables on the bars I would also recommend removing the hood so that you can use a car engine hoist to get it out if you are just replacing the stator you can just remove the things above, if you dare removing the engine you will just have to remove the coolant hoses and its out if you have any questions feel free to ask, this is quite a bit of work so if your unsure if you can handle it I would recomend taking your sled to a dealer

yeah, to be more specific
http://www.ty4stroke.com/threads/cam-chain-tensioner-replacement-3-cylinder-engine-05-07.90826/
is very important if it hasnt been done, catastrophic engine failure if it goes. and since you have to have everything apart to do it, its a good time to change the donuts in the exhaust manifold
sucks if you do it you have to take the engine out again, but it should be super easy the 2nd time
