So I have been researching the RotoPax fuel cells and getting their dimensions.

Has anyone mounted additional fuel on an Apex XTX? Or would it be advised not to mount a RotoPax on the tunnel below the exhaust outlets? I have an MSR fuel bottle mounted below the exhaust of the Phazer with no issues at all. I was just unsure of how high a RotoPax could sit before feeling the heat of the exhaust on an XTX.

Any info, pics or suggestions are always welcome. Thanks guys!

I think you would be OK, seems like the exhaust would be above the Roto-pack far enough. You would have to get measurements to make sure. I would think someone would have mounted on on there by now and would pipe up and let you know. Good Luck

I got a Roto-Pax mounted on my 14 XTX. Its just a one gallon but I had custom turn-outs made for the exhaust.
This one is not mine but is exactly what is on mine.

i have the sleigh hitch on mine so i could mount it out farther and i still did not like the clearance for my comfort. the apex shorty rack fits on there without the sleigh hitch and the bottom of the rack is a perfect size for one of those cans. that is my plan once i modify the hitch to work with myrack or vice versa.

If you put another container that same size and mounted them standing up with your turn outs you would be ok,or get one bigger roto pax and you may have room if you stood them up.

I have been using a Koplin 1.5gal on the rear of my Apex LTX for couple years now without any heat issue's and no turn outs. Only thing to watch out for was my rear cooler was really close so had to move my mounting bracket and tunnel 2 in back. Strattles the bumper. Great to have the extra fuel for sure! ;)!

For me the one i have is just fine. I can go 120 miles easy and then some. So it really is just a little insurance as I know my riding areas well and rarely need more then 90-100 miles between stops.

That's the answers I needed guys, thank you!

BlueBullet, that's cool to see as the Kolpin and Rotopax are the same animal. I'm not sure who makes it for whom, but they are the same and come in the same quantities.

The LTX should have similar space in back as my XTX. Great photos! I will have to look at the mounts and see how it will work on my tunnel. The '12 does have a different exhaust outlet with between 2.5" and 3" of clearance below. I will have to measure. And check out my rear exchanger underneath too.

You are right, we do get good range on these sleds, but it's for that just in case moment. I also don't want someone else to ruin my trip either.

Honestly, we run with MXZ/GSX 600 ETEC's and their range is much more than the Apex. Sad but true.
