Replacing the center shock with an aftermarket that has an attached reservoir requires removing the inner idler wheel. I replaced my center shock with an Ohlins and after only a few miles saw significant hyfax wear without the idler wheel. The marginal snow wheels are an option but that's a lot of pressure for such small wheels. Because the inner idler wheels can't be relocated to the outside of the rail due to the torsion spring stabbing the mount I decided to relocate the wheels to the outside by mounting them further forward with new mounts that allows for torsion spring clearance. All the idlers had been previously replaced with taller 135mm wheels which corrected hyfax wear. Moving the front idlers forward on the rails required going back to a Yamaha 130mm wheel for that location only. Because I now had extra 135mm wheels and mounts I relocated them behind the center shock. I haven't tested this yet but I don't think I'll have issues.

New mount vs OEM mount

Inner wheels moved back behind center shock.

I also have Ohlins center shock I used the Dupont hyfax I haven't noticed to much wear yet but if I do where can I get the mounts you used to move these to the front.

Check back with me after I've had a chance to test them. I can also provide dimensions if someone wants to make their own.

This is how much it wore in less than 200 miles without the wheel installed

Fran your a glutton for punishment, but as always you come up with a solution.

As long as I don't take a beating like I did last year I'll be a happy sledder.

and if things don't work out..........

Love the snowman!!!

Have you tried the duponts, dealer doesn't even use the idlers on his nytro with duponts and said he's had same set for 3 years

I didn't have an issue with Hyfax wear with the 135mm idlers until I had to remove the inner wheel. I'm sure the DuPont hyfax last longer although I've never tried them. The rails came with wheels and I'd like to keep them but If I continue to have issues I'll probably buy the overpriced DuPont version.

DuPont's last a long time, but make sure if you are riding in hardpack or ice you have scratchers as the DuPont's can cause wear on track clips and track. I have noticed on my track and others have as well and that's why I installed the ski mounted scratchers on my sled. Just an FYI for those considering Duponts and those that have them check your track and clips if you haven't.

Yea only say that because all my front idlers needed to be replaced this season and needed hyfax. Dealer said best choice was no idlers and duponts price wise. I'm still putting wheels on but that's what I was told and he's pretty reputable.

Pete, which scratchers are those? I've never added them but I have ridden in a few poor snow conditions were they may be beneficial to have.
