Timeslips from the sunny & crazy windy day last Saturday racing...... 8-1-15

SRX

1st time run, Lane 2
Reaction .2145 - 1.5141 60ft. - 6.1820 1/8 @ 115.03mph - 9.8058 1/4 @ 131.36mph
(horrible 60 ft, spun almost to the 330 ft. timer)

2nd time run, Lane 1
Reaction .0942 - 1.4575 60ft. - 6.1664 1/8 (no mph) - 9.8003 1/4 @ 130.90mph
(still spinning and they were having problems with the timers....wind? debris flying around?)

3rd time run, Lane 1
Reaction .0708 - 1.4127 60ft. - 6.1127 1/8 @ 111.82mph - 9.7723 1/4 @ 129.76mph

1st round, Lane 2 dial-in 9.79
Reaction .0232 - 1.4159 60ft. - 6.1004 1/8 @ 115.04mph - 9.7381 1/4 @ 125.91mph on the brakes
(Broke out because I went too fast, even hit the brakes at the end of the run...would have run a 9.68)
Bought back in to try and win the money

2nd round, Lane 2 dial-in 9.68
Reaction -.0172 - 1.3986 60ft. - 6.0477 1/8 @ 155.62mph - 9.6498 1/4 @ 132.50mph
(Lost 2nd round because I redlighted)

As mentioned before, still in 1st place for points. Definitley something wrong with the timers at our track. Speed traps shouldn't change 4mph between lanes.

Heading to the Grove to meet up with TY friends August 14th, have some good tuning sessions, will be focusing on the Viper clutching once again and trying the ignition module.

Same here fasteddie!

Just copied from the WIR website. Still in 1st place for points series, but I have 3 real close behind. Time for Turbo-Tim (Shagman) to take these guys out so I can extend my lead.... ;)

This is going to be somewhat long, but this weekend was the craziest....

Friday August 14th, Sunny, hot and humid as a mo-fo! Cross/headwind 10-15mph was not what I was looking forward to. With the PGA going on the I-43 Cleveland exit was jammed packed so Shagman, Boostednytro and myself took a little detour to stay away from the mess. We had the generator running with both air conditioners on in the motorhome and then the generator stopped working. We pulled into a Pilot gas station 10 miles north of the track and Shagman noticed grease all over my trailer wheel. Boostednytro pulled on the wheel and it was so loose we can't believe the whole assembly didn't come off. The tab that holds the nut broke off and loosened the nut causing the cap to end up coming off. Tightned the nut and got it to the track. Cannondale was coming down so we asked him to pick up some grease and a bearing buddy. Got that fixed around 11pm after the storms went thru. Thanks Steve! With the hot weather, the generator wouldn't keep running on the motorhome and I opted to fire up the portable generator. Even tho it's 4,200 watt, it wasn't enough to run the motorhome air....had to be 120 in that thing! At least the fridge could keep our refreshments cold.

Best time on the Viper was an 11.128 @ 107.16mph Friday (more info and timeslips to come)

Saturday, we stayed overnight at the Grove and got on the road to Kaukauna about 8am. The temps again, hot, sunny and oh that humidity! The motorhome ran good but both fans were keeping the engine temp just under the redline. My brakes were hot and could feel them holding us back. Got into Kaukauna for breakfast and behold....the new bearing buddy was gone....but the wheel bearings were still good so a plastic bottle with electric tape sure keeps the dirt out. After breakfast we arrived at the track with the front brakes smoking. Got the motorhome in position and plugged in for the air conditioning....THANK GOD!!!

Racing on Saturday was going pretty well until I did my big burnout in lane 1 past the tree like I always do, but when I went to put it in reverse....it beeped and wouldn't go in reverse, no reverse signal. OH $HIT! push the sled back to the starting line and hope to god it isn't half way in/out. I had to race Shagman and ran right on my dial-in where he broke out (ran too fast). Didn't touch the sled but knew it wasn't good. I decided to run the sled 2nd round and broke out (ran too fast). Back in the pits I needed to get the sled backed in the trailer. I pushed the reverse and it went it after a few pushes...but now is locked in reverese.

Sunday, woke up to a flat tire, same side as the bearing buddy missing and now both wheels on that side the bearings are toast. Guess I have some work to do before Saturday.

Crap that is some bad karma going on there. Who did you piss off?

Crazy thing is we all had fun at least Sat! Racing sure takes HUGE commitment. These things are bound to happen with all the mi and rushing between them. It's why not many do it. Hats off to Terry and all the others who race. Sure is cool hearing about all of it good and bad.

Don't know, but like everyone says....when it rains it pours. Just glad it all made it home ok. New bearings in T minus 9 hours hopefully.

Thanks Steve, let me know your time schedule so I can pay you for the parts you brought down.

;)!

Steve, I stopped there to give you the shocks and forgot to pay you....guess I had the van and my youngest on my mind....

Both axles, wheel bearings and seals replaced, found a 1 1/4" roofing nail in the rear tire. New reverse unit came in yesterday so all I need to do now is check out the motorhome issues....but I believe they were all caused by the hot weather.

Time slips from the Hot Steamy Union Grove with cross/headwind. Talking with the bike guys that I know there, they were .05 off of times due to the heat.

1st time run, lane 1 (my PCV with my settings)
Reaction .210 - 1.473 60ft. - 6.913 1/8 @ 94.11mph - 11.260 1/4 @ 106.30mph

2nd run, lane 1 (Switched to a different PCV with ignition module, rpm's 8,900-9,000)
Reaction .159 - 1.457 60ft. - 6.885 1/8 @ 94.74mph - 11.222 1/4 @ 105.68mph

3rd run, lane 1 (took weight out primary weights)
Reaction .104 - 1.472 60ft. - 6.875 1/8 @ 97.31mph - 11.226 1/4 @ 106.19mph

4th run, lane 1 (Changed helix-didn't like the change)
Reaction .158 - 1.463 60ft. - 6.926 1/8 @ 93.79mph - 11.296 1/4 @ 105.77mph

5th run, lane 1 (Different helix)
Reaction .119 - 1.457 60ft. - 6.869 1/8 @ 94.81mph - 11.207 1/4 @ 105.50mph

6th run, lane 1 (took out more primary weight)
Reaction .192 - 1.459 60ft. - 6.872 1/8 @ 95.37mph - 11.178 1/4 @ 106.49mph

7th run, lane 1 (took out more weight)(RPMS at 9,450 now)
Reaction .109 - 1.454 60ft. - 6.820 1/8@ 98.33mph - 11.128 1/4 @ 107.16mph

This goes to show how the power is made past the stock rev limiter of 9,150-9,250. This is a 10 second sled all day and wish I had the stock gearing in it right now as I think it was quicker with the 21/41 instead of the 22/40 I have in it now. But I want to see the mph on the top end. It was windy with the trees bowing.

8-15-15 Wisconsin International Raceway - Hot, Sunny and very Humid with more headwind

Time run, lane 1 (same setup as the Grove)
Reaction .0842 - 1.6141 60ft. - 7.1400 1/8 @ 95.06mph - 11.4693 1/4 @ 109.62mph

Time run, lane 2
Reaction .0515 - 1.5835 60ft. - 7.0816 1/8 @ 94.03mph - 11.4073 1/4 @ 109.72mph
(Won the reaction time contest)

1st round, Lane 1 (headwind picked up and dialed an 11.49)
Reaction .0858 - 1.5789 60ft. - 7.1032 1/8 @ 94.07mph - 11.4953 1/4 @ 108.03mph
(Won round 1 against my bud Shagman, ran right on my dial-in)

2nd round, Lane 1 (wind went down some so I dialed an 11.44)
Reaction .0541 - 1.4972 60ft. - 6.9395 1/8 @ 94.68mph - 11.3436 1/4 @ 100.81mph on the brakes and broke out.
(Sled hooked the best that run and I knew I was going fast. Would have been an 11.20 something run)

Saturday, August 22nd - Bergstrom Ford-LincolnWAPL Jet Car Nationals / Summit Super Series and Quick 8!

Temps were a somewhat warm 83° with a lot of sun and very windy (25+mph) headwinds making the flags stand out straight and bend the flag poles. Humidity was down and the air wasn't too bad. But that famous south headwind WIR is mainly known for was really blowing.

SRX did very well and ended up with a runner-up finish in the Quick 8! Win margin by the pro-bike was .0051 so it was a great race!

The Viper did very well at running some good times against that wicked headwind. Traction is usually an issue at WIR, but wasn't as bad as I have seen in the past. The Viper ran 11.20's all through competition and would have run an 11.15-11.17 if I wouldn't have had to get off the throttle so I wouldn't breakout cause I had an 11.20 dial-in on the sled. But by my 1/8 mile, it would have run way faster.

Will post timeslips later :)
