Dirt bike help!

I am all but given up on a electrical problem with a TTR 230. I'm hoping the vast knowledge you guys have will lend itself to fixing my problem. I have a 2006 Yamaha TTR 230 that's new to me. It will lose spark at any random time after sitting. It's never died when running. But once shut off it's a crap shoot if it will spark. If I crank on it enough it will eventually regain spark? I have changed starting coil, plug cap and new plug. Gone over entire harness. Did fix some pinched wires in stator harness. Kill unplugged, neutral and clutch switch good. Stator pick up coil ohms out fine. Havnt ohm stator yet but will. No test for CDI. Battery good and charged. When it does run battery charges, has 14.5 volts on meter. What else can I do? Would a random intermittent spark be a stator? CDI should be fine I was told it either works or it won't. Could that be intermittent also. Ignition switch good, I don't know! Please help!

Are you sure motor and chassis has a good ground?

Yup grounds good, even checked when no spark. Going to go over now one more time.

Here is what I have learned. This is a charging stator only. Ignition is battery driven. So seeing everything else checks out fine it looks like it's a CDI . Very expensive new. So I may try a eBay used one for half price. It is very rare that a CDI works intermittent but it happens. Usually all or nothing but spar is all or nothing so who knows.

Its a tough one that for sure. Once you get it pulled you might find the problem with the windings.

Look up wps 27-21931 cdi ,or ricks 15-509 cdi and see if it looks like yours /

Ordered CDI today. I have no spark again and rechecked everything with same results. Everything is fine, it has to be CDI.

Where did you get it from / Boats .net ?

Tap your old CDI gently with a hammer and see if you get spark.
I have had the same issue with a honda quad but if you tapped the cdi it would take off again.

Set it out in the sun today to see if dries out (maybe moisture). I did bang it without success. I got a newer one off a part out on eBay for half the cost. Also worked it out with seller that if it doesn't work I can return it. So win win at this point. What's nice about these bike is they are relatively unchanged since 2005. Pretty much graphics but all internals same right up to 2017.

Plugged new one In today and fired right up. Plug old one nothing, Very weak at times at best. CDI it was. Back on the trails! Thanks for the help.
