What should I hear when I turn the key to the run position . ... fuel pump, solenoid ? Should I see any power at the instrument pod?

Update...I checked my buddies carbed venture and it is quiet too when in the run position so that isn't an issue I'm thinking. Ive gone through the trouble shooting chart in the service manual. Ignition good, kill switch good, checked, cleaned and dielectric grease on all connections. checked all fuses, changed plug, checked coil, checked grounds.... checking stator and pickup coil this evening ...anything I'm missing? Anyway I can check the ecm?
Thank you all for the help

I'm assuming when you say 'no spark' you are telling us it does not fire ... or have you confirmed there is no spark? Hope that makes sense.

Yes, verified no spark with a grounded plug in the cap/coil

you should not see anything on the gaugepod until the sled is running.

So, is there anyway to see error codes if I can't get the sled to run?
