I took a ride on tug hill today the conditions were not good(frozzen from the rain). I had my temp light come on 3 times as I was trying to pack some snow on my rails I was wondering how these other people are rideing, Got my slides pretty warm and noticed one side was wearing into the track, I was wondering what to do would it be better to fully clip the track or use those anti-wear pads? Does anyone have a picture of the wear pads installed?

WearPads. They are easy to install and really work. My track turns by hand with ease where before it took a two hand mega-tug.

They look like they would help with wear. I am wondering if the fully clipped track would let in more snow

i have a 06 rs venture and was wondering if they would work on that and where you purchased them i get exsesive wear on my hyfax and am getting some plastic on my track from that.

I just cut out the closed windows as I had heard about doing on this site last year. I have had no problems. I have commented about this on a couple of other similar posts. So far, nobody has come up with any rational to support clipping or installation of the wear studs as being better.

I believe this is a cheep and effective way to improve the hyfax wear problem, redice weight, and reduce track noise. There has been no evidence of track problems to date. O only have around 200 mi since the change.... No snow round here.

do the wear pads increase track noise ?

How big of a hole did you drill? Did you use a drill similar to the type one uses to install studs?

I'm gonna drill out my track...I don't want rubber running on hifax anymore. As to the theory that closed holes keep snow in, why has it taken 20 yrs for the track OEM's to start closing holes?? Cheaper to make is the reason they're closed!!!

1/4" track/stud drill bit.

1/4"?? really?? did you drill only one hole or ??

read on another thread somewhere a while back that a guy drilled 1" holes. thats kinda what I was thinking.maybe not 1" but...

IMO - I think the anti-ware pads are the way to go vs cutting holes, you still have the unsupported track span rubbing on rubber. There will be more snow in there but its still plastic to rubber. just my .02

i know what you're saying but the sig smaller amount of rubber+ more snow vs the weight/cost of the pads...well in my small eyes, this is the better option....
just my .02
