New midhieght windshield....crappy fit

Tried the new midhieght on my Attack at the dealers yesterday.It looked like it would be a lot warmer and flared better,but the fit was terrible.One side around the headlight would not line up with the holes properly,and when we finally got it,it stuck out almost an inch from the headlight.Looked terrible and you wonder if air would get in there and rip those plastic screws out with that big of a gap.I did not take it and hope they will redo it.
 
Try another one , may be a defect. I have 2 mid chrome ones on my attaks and they fit perfect.
 
This may sound funny, but i put one on my RTX and it fits pretty well, but i borrowed it to a friend of mine to try who has an attak and he said it fit terribly.
 
OK help me out here....you mention a "new midheight" windshield. From what I can see on their website, the Attak comes with a stock "medium" windshield. From there you go can go to the accessories screen and buy a "tall."

So what exactly are we talking about here. Part number comparisons would be most outstanding as I'm very confused as to which windshield I want to order with my 2007 Attak. Thanks!
 
Mid-height screen-poor fit

I tried a couple mid-height screens and they didn't fit well. The last one I tried, I decided to keep as I needed more wind protection. I took some black foam weatherstrip and placed between the screen and headlight pod to fill the gap-seems to work fine, doesn't look too bad.

Hopefully they'll get this issue straightened out by next season and make them fit like they should.

Which leaves me just as confused as before. The site calls this "medium." And the Yamaha Attak spec sheet says the Attak comes standard with "mid."

??? You guys going to the dealer to buy the exact same windshield to replace your original because it broke? Doesn't sound like it.

Maybe this will help....does anyone know the actual part number of the Attak "mid" windshield that comes on the sled standard?
 
The accessory "MED" is different than the original "MED". It's taller in the center; stands up a bit straighter; and has larger area for wind deflection for your hands. I'm 5' 10" it moved the wind blast from my chest, to the upper half of my face shield. Hope this helps.
 
Thanks Bodacious. That does help clear my confusion a bit. I wish Yamaha would label these things more clearly...like low, medium, medium/tall, tall, etc.

Two different windshields with the same name is just confusing.

Did anyone measure how much taller/wider the accessory "medium" windshield compared to the original "medium" windshield? Do you gain 1 inch, 2 inches?

Thanks again. I had made the decision I wanted to order a "tall" for my Attak (not the extra tall), but now I'm not certain as I was operating under the assumption that the mediums listed in the accessory catalog were just idential sized replacements to the original with different colors. But if they're also taller & wider, that might just be enough for me...

I would love to hear how these 3 heights/widths compare with each other if anyone has actual measurements to share.
 
I put the clear medium shield on my Attak and it is a improvement over the stocker. It fits pretty good and works well. I do not need to go bigger. I did see one on a RTX that fit poorly though, must be a bad batch produced somewhere.

I PICKED A MED UP LAST WEEK AND IT FIT TERRIBLE .AM GOING TO EXCHANGE IT FOR ANOTHER, BUT I'VE SEEN SEVERAL THAT FIT THE SAME. HAD A TALL ON ORDER BUT WITH THOSE STUPID SUPPORTS IT LOOKED BADD!!! SAW A CHROME THAT FIT WELL THOUGH

Ah yes.....now my fog and confusion continues to deepen. I thought the "tall" windshield did NOT have the supports, only the "extra tall" had the supports (and was discontinued and/or being redesigned or something?)

May I request yet more clarification from someone in the know, please? I agree that I don't want the supports either. But I was pretty well convinced they did not come on the "tall" so I thought I was OK.
