Like Nytro guys do.Has anyone done this on thier Phazer?I just did it to mine.Pretty easy mod except you will have to reset ski alignment.Anyhow will let you know how it feels.

Yep, did mine last year. Rode it all last year like that, and it does make it feel better under suspension compression during a turn. Keeps the ski flatter and doesn't feel as much like the ski is curling in under you, giving you the feeling like your catching the outside edge skiing or snowboarding, when you're turning. Worth the time to do it for sure, local machine shop down the street only charged me ten dollars to put the joints in a lathe and take off the 2mm, and he did it while I waited. Pry took him 15 minutes total.

I believe Cannondale is fortunate enough to have a lathe in his home shop... Man, I wish I had metal working tools!

:o|

Sorry about pics. They are in there already. All you do is take 2mm off of the joint where it goes into upper arm. This makes the top of spindle move in towards the sled.Motoman probably noticed that when you compress the stock front suspension the lower part of spindle moves in and upper out a little bit. That isnt right. This mod corrects that.

No problem Red Phazer it is real easy and like said takes 10min.

I was going to do it but I would be DQ'd for racing. I could have done it myself to.

I found the the SMB shim kit works well. I looked at my spindals after I did it a few months ago. It extened my ski stance by a little and moved the spindal pionting in.

google schmidt bros motorsports under phazer-suspention parts- A-frame shim kit.
Discription reads "This lower A-frame shim kit eliminates spindle slop that is apparent in Phazer models caused by excessive lower A-frame movement. These custom one of a kind shims eliminate that problem. Get improved handling, more accurate alignment, and a caster gain. A caster gain translates into camber gain for carving corners. An increase in caster will also help to settle the sled down on corner entries. If you don't think this kit will help, jack up your '07 up Phazer, move the ski front to back and feel the slop."

It moved my lower a-amrm forword and out a tad bit. This slightly increasing ski stance, and moving the sindals towords the sled . I would give you the angle but spinals are off the sled.

So how's it working for you Cannondale? I just had new upper and lowers installed and my cousin is a machinist, so I have to do this if it works.

I agree with Motoman. It just seems a little smoother turning instead of turn then bite.Keep in mind though that I also replaced the rubbers in ski at same time so I am sure that helped also.Nothing negative though and just cycle your stock suspension and look definitly not right stock.

Shims would not correct this issue. They might take up some play from worn bushings but the correct way to fix that is replace bushing with new ones from Ulmer and better yet add grease fittings to arms.

Cannondale you are correct. When you compress the suspension the tops of the spindles lean out, which tilts the ski up on the outside edge. If that catches that's when the sled comes up on one ski and lifts the inside ski in turns. This mod helps (but does not eliminate) this and keeps the sled flatter in the turns. I got a picture of my sled in the back of my truck with the shocks detached and suspension compressed, I'll see if I can find it, as I believe that was before I did the mod and you can see the spindles tipped out.

I looked at mine a had no slop whats so ever befor the install, I did the gress fitting befor this two. After I installed I noticed a flatter turning to sled.
