What to get for suspension the new ZX2 or just shocks?

Im thinking on doing something for the rear suspension and actually the front too byt right know my main concern is the rear as it bottoms out very easy as we all know so i was thinking of just upgrading the shocks but also thought about put a whole new aftermarket skid but they are very $$$$ as we all know aswell but i seen the new ZX2 for AD Boivin and it looks great very light and as they put it evolution/revolution and is priced about the same as a good set of shocks so what do you guys think of it and is there anything else you recomend?Here is a link to the ZX2 and here is a pic of it aswell I think it looks wicked and never needs painting and it comes in many colors.

I am thinking of getting one as well . If it stands up as well as plastic skis it should be very good . it should run as much as 40 lbs lighter than steel -alunimum because it should not have ice and snow sticking to it . This may be the first of things to come in the suspension department .

I contact hy gear suspension.What they can do with a stock supension is unbelievalbe.
 
Jeff: when should a guy expect to get some kind of confirmation on the order? Ordered mine May 4th. Looking forward to hearing from you...Any idea on delivery date?

what is the weight difference between a comparable Expert X vs a ZX2? ie 136 vs 136?
 
my 121 expert x weighed 62-66lbs(cant remember exactly) but it held alot of snow..the zx2 is claiming to be 53lbs (121)..and should hold way less snow..the 03 rx1...121 was 75 lbs.
 
Expert X is 10 to 12 lbs heavier then the ZX-2 but 8 to 10 pounds less then the monoshock suspension

52-53 : ZX-2
60-63 : Expert X
72-75 : Yamaha Monoshock
80 +/- : Dual shock Yamaha

This is on top of my head, i don't have my paper with me right now but i will double check to be sure.
 
Mad Cat - I ordered a ZX2 with the 136" extension to it for my Turbo sled. Reasons why I ordered the ZX2 was: big bump capability, low weight, low cost, durability. I was getting tired of welding up the ProAction all the time, broke it twice last season.

I think the ZX2 is very interesting engineering and based on the results of the Expert X it will probably be the suspension to own but rxrider since it's a first year product I'm not sure how you can use durability as a reason to buy one. That is probably the biggest question or concern that people have.

One single reason Geezer 2, not scientific but, I can't ever imagine the ZX-2 to be weaker than the Proaction suspension. I have been breaking the Proaction skid to the point that I'm no longer willing to fix it.

Plastic do not crack and break like steel and aluminum does. Just a tought, remember the old steel skis? I broke them all. Have I broken a plastic ski? No I haven't, nor have I heard of anyone else around here breaking one either. They bend if you hit a rock. That's why I'm so confident the plastic composite will hold up. BTW - To my knowledge ADBoivin have been working with the plastic composite skid for some 10 years. I'm going to give it a hard time under my turbo sled riding trails that will not see a groomer all winter. I will report back on the durability when it have at least 1000+ miles or 1600+ kms on it. :-) If it ever break down on me I will report. One last thing, I do hope that the ZX-2 is the skid to have. :-) ;)! :rocks:
 
I would get the zx2 and sell the stock skid and shocks. If you really like the proaction, get a set of really good ohlins. Get a 46prc rear, and a 46d center. they have the bigger shaft, and the center has rebound, the rear has hi and low comp, and rebound. I'll sell you a set of them, for what a 136 zx 2 cost, and that is still cheaper than what ohlins gets for them. wink wink. Maxdlx
