Just installed the 136 freeride and love it. It hooks up great and what I like most is how much quicker it stops with all the track touching the ground. I also put on 6.9 pilots and like them so far over the stock skis . I am going to try it out in the deep snow on Wednesday.

Did you have to extend the tunnel? Hartman Inc says no, while others on this site say it is necessary. I recently purchased a 07 GT and have ordered the Freeride 136 and rail/hyfax extensions from Hartman.

How did you go about mounting the Pilots?
Hartman is right but you do have to tip up the rear bumper to get the proper clearance so the track wont hit the snow flap and flap bracket. First I removed the bumper and the rivits that connect the tunnel and the bumper. Leave the part of the tunnel that is connected to the snow flap bracket attached. I moved the bottom bracket on the bumper to the back hole in the tunnel and set the angle so the track would not hit the flap or the flap bracket when the suspension is fully compressed(A heavy friend on the running boards helps for this). After I got the correct angle for the bumper I then drilled a hole between the two bolt holes that are already in the tunnel for the top bumper bracket and had to use a nut on the backside of the tunnel for the bolt. You can see in the pictures that the bumper is angled slightly upwards. I then rivited the rest of the tunnel pieces together. I think it came out great. I also added a grab bar strap off of a ski-doo renegade. and some 6.9 pilots off a summitMewarrior said:Did you have to extend the tunnel? You have to take out the bushings in the pilots and put them from the outside of the ski so the yamaha spindles would fit right in. I also used the Ski doo axle bolts and reused the yamaha rubber bumpers. You might have to trim the rubber for a better fit but they will fit as is. I am sure these will help with the darting that you get with the stock Yam skis.cannondale27 said:How did you go about mounting the Pilots?

Thanks alot for the reply. I'm just waitng for the extension kit and then I'll follow your advise. I'm also adding heavier torsion springs at the same time, hopefully it will with the bottoming out problem. The GT doesn't seem capable of handling a 240# rider even with the block set on H.

I would like to know how it works out for you by just tilting the flap up ... let us know towards the end of the season after you have some real miles on!
We extended my tunnel (with much stronger aluminum vs stock) and I still have to be careful if I ever back up.

The one nice thing about the 08 phazer is that the flap is different and is tilted up a little bit more compared to the 07. I have cycled the suspension and there is plenty of room between the track and the flap with the way I have it set up. I will try it out this week and keep you informed on how it works.yamahagirl said:I would like to know how it works out for you by just tilting the flap up ... let us know towards the end of the season after you have some real miles on!

I have the hartman rails and my fx needed no mods at all. I have a 07 fx with 500 miles and no problems with track touching flap.

Is that a 15" or 14" track, also did you change your gearing?
It is the Camoplast Freeride 14x136x1.5 I left gearing alone as I think the phazer has plenty of low end powerVector1 said:Is that a 15" or 14" track, also did you change your gearing?
Show us a picture of yours I would like to see it completed. Did you compress the suspension fully to see if it hits?4token said:I have the hartman rails and my fx needed no mods at all. I have a 07 fx with 500 miles and no problems with track touching flap.

Gosh I don't see how you guys can get away with out any mods to the tunnel ... even as far as I extended mine I have still hit when going up high embankments ...
Well I just went out and went out and tried it and on the trails. On medium bumps it did not hit the tunnel so I then decided to go up a high embankment and at the bottom of the bank with the suspension fully colapsed the track hit the cross brace that the flap is rivited to. I ended up moving the bumper up a little more and I think it will be OK now. I will try it out in the morning and if it's good I will post some pics of what I did.yamahagirl said:Gosh I don't see how you guys can get away with out any mods to the tunnel ... even as far as I extended mine I have still hit when going up high embankments ...
