Looking at buying a 05 rx-1. It has 1200 miles. Connecting rod let go at 1000 miles, and engine got messed. It was off warrenty, but yamaha Canada put a brand new engine out of the box in it, along with carbs so 200 miles on new engine. Otherwise in good condition. Is it worth 6500 cdn? Any problems I should look for? Thanks

Hey there wecome to the site, that sounds like a good deal, just check jackshaft bearing, all shocks, the W arm in the rear suspention for cracks, all bushings in suspention, check 05 rx1 in the serch area and find anything else.

05 was the most perfected RX1 not too many issues check your idlers and the suspension for cracks as mentioned, the 05 did have beefed up suspension parts over the 03,04 so they should be ok. Sounds like a prettty fair price enjoy

yes its worth 6500cdn. its brand new with 1200mi on the chasis and 200mi. on the engine, not even broken in yet. install a stiffer spring in the mono and your good to go.

Do i need the stiffer even if im only 150 lbs? Last yr I put about 2000km on a apex mountain se, and handled the big 162 just fine, so im not worried about the weight of this sled. Been on 800's all my life.

I bought an 05 last year with the same miles on it as yours. It was my first 4 stroke and I was worried about performance. I did some clutching and jetting and air box work to it and it did not disappoint me. I have run BB twins and tripples for years and this sled is no slouch. Not very happy with suspension bottoming out. I will have to make mods to it this winter. I love the ele start, rev, and motor!

i would go with the stiffer spring even though you are only 150lb. the ride can be set soft but the main concern is not bottoming hard, as this leads to damaged rails.

Let me know where it is! I'll buy it for my Bro! He's looking for a deal like that. Brand new sled for less then half price. Would get him over to the tuning fork side!
