I tried one this weekend on my 07 attack.I had to add 1.5 mm washers on the secondary for belt deflection.. The rpms dropped around 400, changed wieght to fix. After 120 miles of abuse, the belt is showing wear. The clutches seem to run as warm with stock belt.. The wear is the only problem at 85 a belt.

For sure you will have more wear with that drive belt do to softer compound.
Did you got better performance out of that drive belt?

We have also been testing this belt and seeing it wear out right before out eyes. Belt dust everywhere, just like the belt is made of powder! It does pull the R's down around 300-400 rpm. NO PERFORMANCE GAIN TO BE FOUND ANYWHERE WITH THIS BELT. I'm done messing around with it. It would be fine for a drag race only belt. Don't buy one for a trail sled and expect it to last any time at all. Stick with the Yamaha 8DN.

That is what I was thinking, not worth changing everything. Back to the 8dn and lots of miles and no irregular rpms.

good feedback guys....saved me some time and money.....
anyone know how the NEW 8DN-01 is comparing in longevity to the original 8DN-00....i am still running the originals and have yet to try the new updated part number.
thanks
Dan

Ya, don't bother with the Carlisle Dan. Buddy had the new 8DN 01 belt on his RX-1, and I did measure it here this weekend. It looks to be the same compound as the old 00. Top of belt is not chamfered like the 00. Opposite of what I have read in the magazines, funny how they never get it right. I measured .019 wider than the 00, and 4 mm longer, which isn't much, but the additional .020 in width would equate to 4% more in OD ratio over the 00. He really likes it. I'm going to switch over to it. It shifts the same as the 00 for RPM's.

Did you try the new 01 belt yet?
If so...how did it work?

I have run the new 01 for 700 miles now, and it is showing no wear. The new 01 showed a vast improvement in performance compared to the 00 I took off with 1500 miles on it. New 01 pulled R's down from 11,000 RPM down to 10700 and sled runs much harder with the new 01 belt on. Might have been able to add weight to tips with old belt and get the same performance. Nothing wrong with the new 01 at all, in fact I prefer it over the 00. That is my opinion.
When it comes time to replace my 8DN I too am going to give the 01 a whirl. Did some high speed running on a fairly hardpacked, snowblown lake this past weekend and was seeing 11000rpm on the tach. My original belt is riding a little low in the secondary, but I'm not sure that is what is causing the slight overrev.
