Please keep this in mind. When removing the exhaust can chances are you will need to replace the gasket going to the silencer. It is very thin and most of the time does not come off clean. Silencer has to be removed to swap a track or even just adjust the chain in the chaincase. From what I have just found out the gaskets are on backorder from Yamaha until mid January. However these gaskets are available through Arctic Cat right now. Same price as Yamaha.

Just a quick tip before removing. Nice to have a dealer selling both brands!!

Just curious, why can't the gasket be reused? Other than being normally compressed does it get damaged somehow when removed?

From what I have experienced out of taking 3 silencers off so far 2 of the 3 came apart. Some gasket sticking to the silencer and some sticking to the mid pipe. Talked to tech rep earlier this week and he confirmed that this was what he has seen so far also. I'm not saying it will happen for sure but is possible. I just think most viper owners should have this gasket in hand before removal of the silencer.

Dealer told me it was six bucks when I picked up my sled but got the same story on back order. And there are no parts fiches for these sleds yet either. The only part numbers the dealer had were the belt and that gasket.

Any idea on the price of the copper gasket? I think that is the way to go.

Great info Dgjr. Looks like my first Hurricane order is going to happen. Dont forget at 500mi we need to remove exhaust to check chaincase chain.

Did you guys add a forth bolt to you exhaust flange? I tried sealing it with high temp silicone but it still has a slight leak between the 1 bolt and the 4th bolt hole not being used

I use the muffinworks copper gasket with a little of the silicone. No leaks.

No. It shouldn't be needed. With my turbo it leaked once with the stock gasket, it actually blew gasket out between the bolts on one spot. Changed to copper and no more problems. Just make sure all the old gasket is removed from both flanges and silicone will stick. I let mine dry for a day before running also.

thanks I will pull it apart today and double check I used a grinder with a wire wheel so the faces are spotless. I did start it about an hour after install so i'll clean them up again reseal and let the silicone dry as you mentioned!

I was happy to see the EVO turbo kit I just out on my Viper came with thick copper gaskets.
