Sure, Yamaha figured out that they can make some damn good money selling ball-joints that wear out very fast. Just change the part # and raise the price.

Guess I was thinking this is a 3rd balljoint update....
And Yamaha figured not significant enough of an upgrade for warranty.
If there are better ball joints to be had, I may want them.
Cheers

Wonder what the 2010 has different? I asked the guys at the Yamaha booth at the Milwaukee snow show and they were clueless.

Only difference in the 2010 front frame is that the gusset plate (that was added in 09) used in the front between the a-arms has had a material change to increase its strength otherwise than that it is the same.

In regards to the 2010 lower ball joints they now have a flanged collar that rides inside the ball joint where the bolt goes through. The flanged collars are #31 in the microfiche frame below. So if you order 2010 lower ball joints be sure to get the flanged collar or you will really have some loose joints. LOL

Thanks for the explanation of the changes.

The question now is...
Why the update and would it make any difference in life span?
Obviously a more expensive setup.
