Can someone tell me the difference?
Price and numbers come from Port Yamaha site.

2010 XTX Lower Ball Joint Item-25 BALL JOINT 2 8HK-23579-00-00 1 $81.92

2009 XTX Lower Ball joint Item-25 BALL JOINT 2 8GK-23579-01-00 1 $67.83

Huh??

Guess I was thinking this is a 3rd balljoint update....
And Yamaha figured not significant enough of an upgrade for warranty.

If there are better ball joints to be had, I may want them.

Cheers

ball joints

have your dealer order some and let us know if there is a differience

I am wonder the same for the subframe 'front frame comp'.
08' 8GL-21940-00-00
09' 8GL-21940-01-00
10' 8GL-21940-02-00
Wonder what the 2010 has different? I asked the guys at the Yamaha booth at the Milwaukee snow show and they were clueless.

Only difference in the 2010 front frame is that the gusset plate (that was added in 09) used in the front between the a-arms has had a material change to increase its strength otherwise than that it is the same.

In regards to the 2010 lower ball joints they now have a flanged collar that rides inside the ball joint where the bolt goes through. The flanged collars are #31 in the microfiche frame below. So if you order 2010 lower ball joints be sure to get the flanged collar or you will really have some loose joints. LOL

Thanks for the explanation of the changes.
The question now is...
Why the update and would it make any difference in life span?
Obviously a more expensive setup.

ya and how do we get these warrantied for free...

I think we gotta break all this stuff first.
Then take it to the dealer with high hopes...!!

I had my 09 ball-joints warrantied and they sent the 09 ball joints not the new 10's.

Same here, dealer replaced them with no problem's.

Thanks John!
