i am new to 4 strokes...just picked up a 08 nytro last month and want to put a full exhaust (excell) k&n filters and a power commander on it .... i also want to studd it.....do i have to clutch it or is stock fine...and what do u guys run... thanks j

You will have to re-clutch for sure if you want those other parts to work properly,Get in touch with Ulmer performance he'll have a clutch setup or search on this website and you'll find lots of Clutching info.

yea i pretty much figiured u would have to....there is just so many different combinations of clutching i dont even know where to start....im gonna look into ulmer and see what they say...thanks j

X2 on Ulmer. He will send you a kit for your mods, riding type and weight. Bolt in and its a no brainer...

thats what i want out of performance mods is to bolt them on and not have to keep adjusting them like a 2stroke....

FROM MY EXPERIENCE ..HEELCLICKER DRAG N FLYS WORK BEST WITH WHAT YOUR ADDING...

whays your setup power adders and specifics on the clutching

Jwinn,

What are the adjustments that you make on a 2-stroke that you don't make on a 4-stroke?

revster.....mainly jetting... not so much clutching.....i had a modded out to the max zr 800 and that thing was tempramental....it never wanted to run right

Yeah I thought we were talking clutching.

Jetting is not a 2 vs 4 stroke thing anyways.

.....but the difference in the power band on a 4-stroke should give you more room for error in the clutching department.

yea i did ask a questiom about clutching....i want performance i can just bolt on and not have to fine tune it because im deff not a master mechanic.... thanks for clearing that up for me about the 2 vs 4 stroke...u must be an expert.....

There are several variables to tuning clutches including the gearing and track you are using, altitude, engine power, riding conditions ect. The person you buy the kit from will be able to send you something that is pre-tuned very close if not maybe bang on to what to you want. However they may not be able to account for all of the variables without being there to test and tune with you, so some fine tuning might be required. But again with the broader power band of a 4-stroke getting it close will be easier than it would be on a 2-stroke.

....and hey I was just asking you what clutch adjustments you were talking about that a 2-stroke had that a 4 didn't. No need to use sarcasm....... Just kidding sarcasm is always welcome. ;)!

a fourstroke has a much flatter and broader torque band and is therefore easier to clutch ..
