Rode about 150 miles yesterday and the trails were the best they have been all year! In fact most of the trails I was the 1st or second sled on since groomed. After riding on the Mountain Bay trail near Pulaski, WI I noticed the sled was handling different. I slowed and discovered the right a-arm was stuck below the top of the right steering knuckle. The nut and some washers were the only parts that were missing. I am happy that this didn't happen when I was going fast because it could have been bad!

My question is has anyone else had this problem? I did not hit anything in the 800 miles since buying the sled this season . Also the sled has just less than 2,300 miles on it. Thanks!

Here are some pics with the bolt removed.

Mine never got as bad as yours but it came loose. I haven't taken it off to se how much damage it did to the spindle. Someone started a thread not that long ago with the same problem

Here is one of them......

Thanks revster! I am glad that I am not the only one who has had an issue with this. I did notice the "slop" when I put on the new skis in Dec. I think the slop in the ball joints caused the knuckle to fail since the sled never had an impact.

I know a guy who was putzing around at a tubing party and realized his was gone ended up having a bolt he was able to stick in it and never had a problem since

I have same problem but on the left site. I also had good luck with this. I am happy that it was slow speed when I noticed problem. I have about 6000km in my sled.

I just checked from nytro -08 service manual that there is not glue needed in this bolt. I will add glue to the both site when I will get new parts.

Knuckle assy price in Finland is 285eur:(

same problem with 09 xtx. had a small amount of wear... not as severe as yours... just tightened it up with loctite.

Thanks for all the remarks and for some offers to try and repair the damaged part (steering knuckle). I found out today that the part is NOT available in the U.S.! This tells me that Yamaha may have had issues with this???!!!! I am not happy about having to be without a sled but I am thankful that I was not hurt! Also my dealer is going to get the damaged part repaired in the next two days so I will have the sled back this Thursday.

#46 They take out clean and loctite . My 09 left A-arm bolt came loose at about 1400 miles. Thought it was the bushings that were wore out but it was just #46 not doing its job.

Same problem!

Mine did the same thing over this last weekend! I had a great 130 mile ride and heard a noise in the front end. found the left upper A arm bolt loose. :o|

I took it to a local fab shop and they had a little fun with it!!

I had to buy a 10X70MM bolt and some spray paint, i think i am going to pull off the other side and have it welded ;)!

boat.man thanks for the reply! If you don't mind me asking how much did you have to pay to get yours fixed? I really like the looks of the finished product...Very nice workmanship!
