Just picked up a '08 Vector ER with 7500 kms. Is there any way to get rid of the primary rattling or is this just the harmonics of the 3cyl? My Attak is very quiet at idle compered to this Vector.

Seriously though there's been a lot of posts this year about the rattle. The bottom line is there's nothing permanent you can do about it.

#10 plastic washers will do the trick. They can be bought a any hardware andd was the first thing I did to my nytro. Sounds like a old arctic hex clutch to me!

Asked the same question when I purchased mine 2yrs ago. In a nut shell, get use to it ;)!

Thanks for the read. Did you ever try the repair kit?

No, I never did. Once it was proven it was the splines like I thought, and with only 2100 miles, I figured the kit wouldn't do much and do it for very long?

I think after this season I am going to try an Ulmer's clutch kit so I will have it all apart and will replace what is needed then and possibly try the repair kit?

Im thinking it is the clutch weight bolts that have a little float to them. Use #10 plastic washers or o-rings the same size as the bolt and the rattle will disapprear. Dont have to pull the clutch off or the bolts out, just take the nut off put on the washer or o-ring and tighten it back up and it takes the rattle you hear at idle out completly unless your clutch is shot. Dont hear it on the 4 cylinder because of the firing of the fourth cylinder.

Where are you wanting to insert these washers or O-rings?

The clutch weight bolts should not have any free play at all. There are set screws for the pins and the bolts snug up against the pins. The roller bolts have some play. I installed rubber washers to take away the play and it made no difference in reducing clutch noise.

I know that the rattling clutch doesnt make these sleds sound sexy idling at the hot dog stand but you cant really hear them rattle out on the trail. G.B.

To each one is own.....
..but for me all set for another 5000km noiseless clutch:

o-ring, leather washer were only little help to me.
Proper tight shims were the solution... since 2006.
When the bud can don't do the job no more i go to pepsi. When one side is not enought, i do both... and so on.

The noise at idle is awful. I pop the primary clutch everyother year and bring it to my dealer for a new kit install. It works well but it is only a temporary fix. They charge me $40.00.

How temporary is temporary, how many miles before it starts getting noisy again?
