Sorry guys, but no snow anywhere near here to be found. I’m going to pull the plug on the ride for this weekend. If we get snow later this year and I can work something out that works with most of your schedule, I’ll be happy to do it. Right now, there is more brown on the ground than white. Even if we got a couple of good snowfalls in the next few days, it is going to be a while before the trails are groomed and set up a nice base.

I’d still love to get together with the great group of people that TY members are. If anyone is interested in swapping over to ATV’s I can still take us on a good ride. I’m looking forward to the camaraderie more than anything. Please let me know if you’re interested or have any questions as I will more than likely change my plans of dumping a day of work this Friday if no one is interested.
You can reach me (Dan) at: 218-969-5893. If I don’t answer, leave a message with a little information and I will return your call.

Mr. Sled will be Posting it soon, but the Northern Minnesota TY Ride will be January 13th-15th, 2012!

As usual I will do my best to host the ride, and if need be, we can stop at my garage for repairs. (In case anyone’s steering column gets torn off!)

If there is enough interest I will take a day off of work on Friday and we can ride the whole day Friday, Saturday, and if people are interested, Sunday as well.

We are doing it earlier in the year this year in hopes of better snow conditions.

Gathering point will in front of Holiday Inn Express & Suites: 8570 Rock Ridge Drive, Mountain Iron Mn. 55768, (218)-741-7411, www.holidayinn.com, or 1800-315-2605

There is a block of rooms reserved under TY. We are getting these at a substaintial discount. There have been a few legitimate concerns about price. All they were able to block out for us were suites. There are a couple of weddings that weekend as well as a hockey tournament, so everyone was booked up. That's also why we had to change the location The original hotel was completly booked that weekend. Keep in mind you can sleep up to 6 people per suite to help cut down costs.

Alternate lodging at:
Hibbing Park Hotel & Suites: 1402 East Howard Street & Hwy. 169, Hibbing Mn. 55746, (218)-262-3481 or 1800-262-3481

There are other economy motels in the area if you are on a really tight budget. Both of the above locations are within about 30 minutes/miles of the host location. While it’s possible to get from either of the locations to the gathering point by sled, I would recommend trailering for those not familiar with the area. Generally speaking, this is a pretty safe and secure area for those worried about leaving sleds on a trailer over night.

As usual, tail destination(s) will be determined the day of the ride based on snow conditions, number of people, and what members preferences are.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact me (Dan) @ 218-969-5893. I do not have email access in the PM or on weekends. Leave a message and I will get back to you.

Otherwise you know where we can fix it, eh Andy!!!! I think moving this to January is an excellent idea. The snow conds will be better for sure. These early thaws have been killing the snow late sledding season in Northern MN the last few years!!!!

I made my reservation at the Mt Iron Holiday Express location, in the TY block of rooms. Chisholm has a huge hockey tournament that weekend and they are booked up at the Chisholm Inn and Suites. Maybe we should consider moving the TY ride meeting place to Mountain Iron then as that will be where everyone will be staying?

Also this year I'm hoping to not again get nailed with flu and/or food poisoning again like last year. Projectile vomiting and sledding is very bad!!!!! ;-)

Hey, is anyone sledding Friday this year, or just Saturday and Sunday?

And also, I'm hoping RyanB, aka mysledblows can make the ride this year. I want to meet the legend himself and also see how that EasyRide skid mounts into his 144" Attak ;)!

It was just brought to my attention that there is some sort of a hockey tournament the weekend of this ride. (And pretty much every other weekend from what I can understand.) The Chisholm Inn and Suites is booked up, and it sounds like most of the other local motels are filling up fast. I was able to get a block of (10) rooms booked at the Holiday Inn Express in Mountain Iron. they will hold these rooms till about Christmas time. We can use this hotel as a mustering site as the trail is only about 2 miles from the hotel and is accessable by snowmobile.

I would suggest making your reservations as soon as possible. I think I was told all they have left are suites, but they were going to give us a discounted rate, and I believe they said they could sleep up to 6 persons per room.

I'm in and I have a guest bedroom also at my home in Eveleth, about 20 minutes from the starting point of the ride.

As stated above, my room is reserved at Mt Iron Holiday Inn Express. Just ask for Totallyamaha reservations and they've got the rooms. Shall we all plan on meeting at Mt Iron Holiday Inn Express Saturday in the parking lot at like 8:30 or 9:00 am?

My room is booked at my cabin. I'm looking forward to another great ride!!

Yes, we'll meet in front of the Holiday Inn. I will try to be there by 8:30 am. I'd like to get on the trail by 9:00. I have a pretty good loop in mind depending on # of participants and of course, snow/trail conditions.

sweet, I don't need to trailer, it only takes me 15 minutes to get to the Holiday Inn. Great starting place for quite a few different loops also.

Its going to be fun :) Im all booked.

My son and I would love to join this ride. I will look at booking a room. We may just come up for the day and ride with the group and go back on Saturday evening.

If we come up for the day, can we leave our trailer at the motel even though we are not staying the night?

Leaving a trailer for the day shouldn't be a problem. I have already let the hotel know to expect several truck/trailer combinations.

Everyone start praying for SNOW! Only riding to be done right now is on the lakes which have just enough to lube the slides.
