Just finished up a 2011 Apex with a MCX 290 kit. Very nice kit that makes great power!
Box stock this sled had an air box mod & power commander 5 on it and made 89 hp to the track.
I set this at 8 lbs of boost at first and slowly adjust up to 15 psi.
8 lbs of boost = 133 hp to the track @ 10,000 rpm!
10.5 lbs of boost = 152 hp to the track @ 10,300 rpm!
13.5 lbs of boost = 167 hp to the track @ 10,600 rpm!
15 lbs of boost = 177 hp to the track @ 10,800-10,900 rpm!
Some installation pictures.....
Tapping deeper for head studs

EXUP is intact just like stock. All I did was double check that it was set correctly according to Yamaha's specs!
I'm trying to figure out how the power steering will work when the skis are always in the air?! LOL!

Nice job Allen we just got back from up north breaking my sled and Robbies sled and let me tell you its is a beast, with no miles on it it pulls 5 grams of weight more than my old sled. It now has 440 miles on it and I cant wait to get out and squeeze the trigger again.

This is sweet Allen. How much to purchase an MCX 290 kit from you and have you install on an Apex MTX?

We removed the exup from the one sled we built and left it in the other and there doesn't seem to be any difference between them yet. Time will tell. Without it there is one thing less to go wrong

Twice the power to the track on an already modded engine @ only 15 lbs boost = Impressive!

What is the formula for going from track HP to engine HP ??? Not very many places post track HP so I,m just trying to get a reference. Great job. !!!
Track HP is roughly half of crank HP....or so I've been told. Makes you wonder with that last pull..177HP, that's incredible...nice work Allen!

I have a complete clutching package available for $390. Includes a new primary spring, new weights, new secondary spring, and new helix.

Track HP is usually 53% to 55% of crankshaft horsepower.
The way it is clutched and the way it runs I would say at 15 lbs of boost we are 300+ and I would say closer to 320 hp at the crank.
The last three passes at 15 lbs of boost were 176 hp, 177 hp, 175 hp to the track with water temps at 165 to 170 degrees.

Allan,
Couple of questions.
I am not a dyno specialist by any means but it looks to me like the stocker makes a fair bit more power up to 35 mph.
Am I reading the sheets correctly?
If so, is this due to Turbo lag, Clutching designed to keep track horsepower down to prevent launch blowout of the track or some other reason?
Sold my SC RX 1 and thinking of something for the SE. Loved the MPI Supercharger but hearing some good things about these MCX's.

This 15 lbs of boost, is that what mc sells the kit to make the claimed 290.
what kind of fuel was used at 15 lbs?
