Ok guys very new to this machine, worked great all winter, last ride sled was a bit fussy to start (had to turn over more than usual) but started and drove fine did a few starts and stops all good, today went out to put in the fuel stabilizer and now will not start, it stumbled a couple time now just cranks over, no kicks.
checked fuses and switched the relays around that i could switch nothing still.
so if i have a code will it show up on the display or do i have to count the yellow warning light flashes?

Thanks

Where is the crank sensor located? I assume its close to the crank, is there a how to on the site any where?

There is plenty of info available but going at this
with out a manual is near hopeless. Ebay 6.00 to
10.00 bucks for a yamaha service manual (owners
manuals are free to view at the link) . Just make sure
the seller hints it's a factory manual.

Has anyone replaced the crank sensor separate from the stator assy, I spoke with my local Yamaha mechanic and he believes he can buy the sensor/crank pickup separate.

With mine it wasn't the the stator but the crank position senser and its not even wired into the stator but the wiring shares the rubber plug that seals it into the side cover. Its a assembly, go figure.

From your link. Looks like it is a matter of slicing the rubber plug to remove
and replace the wires through it. The ends will probably slip through if they
are a standard yamaha plug and can be removed. I use some stuff called
OMC motor tuner. Makes rubber and plastic so slippery it's almost not
believable.

Book says an ohm meter on 100x ohms should read
445-545 ohms @ 20 centigrade (68F).
(Grey and Black wires off the
sensor)

couplers to the ECU are gray to gray and black/blue
to black blue. Check them as well.

Should be a 8FP Mitsubishi part, does looked wired to
the stator to me but soldering is no big deal. On closer
look at the schematic it is just showing the stator as part
of the crank sensor system, not wired to the sensor.

Thanks for the help everyone, looks like crank senson/stator assy.
tested the sensor and not getting a reading, got one and a gasket on order should be here end of week.
