Thanks for this post. I'm in the middle of doing this conversion and my covers are at the painter right now, but I was test fitting the light with the seat and noticed that the rear light plastic surround didn't seem to fit around the exhaust tips like the stock, so this now makes sense. i had the same idea for painting the aluminum, so glad you confirmed that it makes the gap disappear.

One way or another I'm gonna make this work though cause the Apex light looks so much better than the stock. :rocks:

The Apex plastic was really difficult to get around the exhaust flanges and I must have installed and removed it 8 or 10 times trying to figure out what was the best way to make everything fit. Get one side behind the flange, snap the centre area in and then work the last side around the bottom of the flange. If you use the spacer on the cones make sure it is as small in diameter as possible. I tried using 1/4" nuts and they interfered with the heat shield foil. And I forgot to mention that the top screw has to be M6 x 25mm (longer than the rest).
