I know some of you have had the problem with the sled starting hard after its warm. The factory knows this and they are working on a reflash. The reflash will fix the start issue and might also change a few other things for the good. Yamaha dealers should have it late spring/summer. That's all I can say but be assured they know and it will be corrected :hide:

So I should have no starting issues this summer, good to know.

I actually laughed out loud at that one!

:jump:

Well I guess better late than never... :o|

Well, I will post results when racing on asphalt

I suspect they want to release the same software drop that will be in the 2015 models. Makes a lot of sense from the company's perspective and gives them time to setup the R&R or reflash process.

I'm good with the late fall or summer release, but I've only had one failure to start and p1338 code that was corrected by slight throttle movement while starting. But I suspect I might feel differently if I was having more issues.

The worst thing they could do is release code that causes unexpected consquences. You would want to do at least as much testing to a reflash or new ECU as you did on the first one as a mistake could down many many sleds. Look back at how long it took to get the 2007 Phazer new ECU for the cold start issue.

Assuming of course this is an ECU issue.

May not be the only issue but is is a major contributor. That's why environmental testing is so important, of course the most difficult environment is the customer. You can never anticipate every situation your users can devise or get put into so you hope the years of experience with other systems helps with your test planning. As our equipment gets better as users we will find new ways to stress them.

It's a never ending process, as someone else here said if we were unwilling to deal with a few problems with new designs/technology we would still be driving models with old technology. This industry is built on technology and innovation, embrace it or just wait for it to get proofed by others. Either way, enjoy the ride!

I work for a major automotive corperation and deal with the group that releases calibrations for our vehicles.

When we have an issue identified and a fix for it.
We will release the fix and other nice to do updates also at the same time.

The cal guys are always working on improvements in the cals.
So when we have to spend the money anyhow to release a cal for an issue.
We always bundle other improvements.

I was talking to our local dealer last week and they haven't even received the software/hardware to access the Viper ECU from Arctic Cat/Yami for diagnostics.

Great to get an early reflash, but its also great to have the ability to put the reflash into the sled!

Anyone else here this gripe from their dealer?

OTM

I almost hate to say it because I don't want to jinx it however, since going over 500 miles mine hasn't had the hot start issue nearly as much. Once in 200 miles and just touching the throttle it lit right up.
