Titanium 5.5nm spring for Mono Skid

I thought this might interest a few folks... The factory titanium spring from the YFZ 450 dirt bike has a rate of 5.5kg, 11" length (.3" shorter than stock?) and 61mm ID ends. It should weigh roughly 2 - 3 lbs less than a steel spring.

It might be a good drop in replacement for KYB/Kayaba equiped rides, and with two end adapters the Ohlins. We'll be doing a trial fit on a buddy's Apex GT elec. Ohlins in the next couple of weeks.

Oh, you can pick up new take offs on ebay for $80 - $150. Retail from RCS would be about $400 for a spring like this.
 
Finally got around to installing this along with revalving the Ohlins. Note the two adapters... pretty easy.

The snow keeps missing us, so no testing yet... it's early for snow around here anyway.

The spring is a 5.5 KG, I corrected it above.
 
This set-up is working quite well and is night and day compared to the stock calibrations. I still wouldn't call ready for the snowcross circuit :drink: , but it has made for a great all around sled that can tackle the trails all day long w/o beating one up (from being too soft or stiff)
 
What is the stock spring rate in the Apex GT mono suspension? I assume it is in the 4.XXKg/mm. I can probably get a few of the slightly used Yamaha Ti springs for the YZ250 bikes that came stock, but as far as I know they were 4.9Kg/mm. At least in my '06 YZ250 the Ti spring was that rate.
If I had the time, I would love to tear that spring out of the bike and try it now that I have seen this as an option! There would be a weight savings of 2 lbs, and this is unsprung weight savings. In the MX bikes they make alot of claims to the benefits of Ti springs.
Did you use a 1/4" shim on the spring to make up the lengths difference?
