Last weekend finally got my first ride in on the RTX. Stayed in Grayling and rode on trails 76, 79, 679, 678. Most were marginal for snow cover but on Friday night were pretty smooth. We rode mostly around Starvation Lake area from about 10pm till about 3:30am, very few other sleds on the trails. I think in total we past maybe 15 sleds in the 60 miles we rode.
Saturday was spent riding east towards Lovells, Lewiston and then back north and west to Gaylord. Again the trails were smooth but thin until we hit the grade in Gaylord. The sled count went from very few sleds from Grayling to Gaylord to uncountable numbers in Gaylord. the grade was classic woops for miles.
The RTX ran flawless, power is great, ride was excellent, hard to judge cornering as I have the stock carbides and all icy corners. I had my front shocks at 50 PSI, I think it was a little soft for my taste and will move them upwards to 75 PSI for the next outing. I also will be adjusting the transfer as it currenly lifts the skis everytime you touch the throttle. The engine braking took a little to get use to, but will be very helpful.
Now the stock windshiled is just to cold for my taste, just ordered a mid-height from one of Ports specials. I know it ruins the best looking sled on the snow, but I rather the comfort than looks.
I have the updated bars, however the grips only get luke warm. I didn't have them turned on as I wear Mittens and have never needed my heated grips, however my friend and I swapped for about 12 miles and he had them on high and his hands were very cold. Not sure if I just got a bad set, I touched them with my bare hands and you could feel the warmth, but for being on high for a good 20 plus minutes they did not heat well at all. I am not concerned, but will talk with my local dealer to see if anything can be done.
My riding buddy just bought a Polaris FST 2006 new at the auction a few weeks ago. I will tell you it is very impressive, we swapped for 12 mile section and the power and ride is very good, yes the RTX would outrun it in a race, but I would expect it not to be to far behind. Fuel mileage, we both were getting around 13.5 MPG, I usually don't check it but my friend was monitoring his and I used 1/10 of a gallon more on every fuel stop.
No photos from the trip but nice just to be back in the snow, all in total we rode 156 miles.

Second trip of the year, this past weekend.
Road from Waters to N Branch to Lewiston through Avery Hills, Atlanta, Hillman, Millersburg, to Cheboygan and back. The guys I rode with have been riding here for twenty plus years. We rode mostly seasonals, and off trail routes. It snowed most of the Day Saturday and the riding was excellent most of the trip.
The short sections of trail we rode were a little thin but no as bad as the reports I have been reading. Traffic was very low.
The Apex performed excellent, the more I ride it the better I like it. Didn't receive the new windshield in time to switch so it was a bit cold on some of the runs but no complaints!!
Sunday AM when we got up there was about 8" to 10" fo fresh lake effect, so the conditions are improving!!
236 miles on Saturday, it was fun!!

DAMN, I MISSED THE TY RIDE GUYS AGAIN THIS YEAR(guess I need to keep track of the schedule)
I was in Muni/Wetmore from the 2/27 through 3/3. Man was it great after the storm came on thursday night, and snowed almost the whole time we were there and left late Saturday afternoon, I am guessing 20" of fresh snow.
The riding was awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
1443 miles for the season, and one photo from the trip.
AND NO I WASN'T STUCK
