i'm doing my 500 mi. oil & filter change on my phazer fx and wanted to change out the chain case oil, can someone tell how much to put in the case the attak takes 8.5 oz. is it the same and also is the drain plug in the front or the backside of the tunnel?

This is straight from the service manual:
Recommended oil : Gear oil "GL-3" 75w or 80w
Capacity: 0.25 L (0.22 imp qt, 0.26 US qt)

Capacity is listed on a sticker on the belt guard, but fill it until the dipstick shows "full". Drain plug is on the chaincase COVER.

yamaha sells the oil in a little bottle, I'm not sure of the size but dump it all in and it should fill you up.

thanks for the reponse, i'll drain tomorrow start off with 8 oz. and top off from there
Using a kitchen measuring cup, measure what comes out and put that much back in. 
(Assuming, of course, the oil was up to the proper level in the first place.)

AGAIN, FROM THE MANUAL, .25L IS THE CAPACITY. Go to a conversion website and convert it to whatever you want to.
