Did anyone see the small write up in the DEAR RALPH in the new snowtech magazine.. (page 26 lower right hand)

They were talking about the CR10EK plugs and how the yamaha reps laughed at the fact that someone (im asuming it was allen ulmer) said that adding the plugs would yeild a noticable difference in HP and throttle response..

Im guessing someone from this site sent in the letter..

I just read that today. I think it's important to point out the way Ralph closed the topic by saying: "Would any of you like to weigh in on this one?"

Snow Tech is always openly welcoming counter-points and documented proof. So how about someone give them some? They LOVE their dyno-runs...why doesn't someone here suggest they do something like that to quantify it, or offer up proof of your OWN dyno runs that shows how these work? Or don't work?

Somehow this same rag became very serious cheerleaders for the Fitch Fuel Catalyst too...which is another sometimes smoke-&-mirrors product depending on who you ask and how you ask it. But somehow they were convinced those things work...so I see no reason someone can't convince them the plug trick works.

I've never used the plugs so I honestly have no real opinion on the matter. But like everything else, it just needs to be proven.

I have ran them back to back on the timers and there is a slight increase.Ralph dosen't know everything, lol

I'm guilty of being the writer of the letter. I haven't seen the mag, and if they didn't do a dyno test, I'm dissapointed.

Pro 116,
If you run a sled back to back on a timer, aren't the times different each time even if you don't change the plugs?

How much difference was there?

I would think back to back dyno runs would be the only way to test it. Also, it should be new plug to new plug. Not old stock plugs to a new EK.

no the times are pretty much identical every. When I istalled them it was slightly fater but every little bit ads up.
By the way I have seen dyno relults.

I just lost all respect for dear Ralph columns and can't trust anything they say anymore.

My point was, if Allen ulmer and Supertuner say it gives you 2-3hp.. than it gives you 2-3hp.... No reason to ask the guys who work for a magazine.. Hell most of the guys on this site know more about sleds than anyone who writes for a mag..

Double Ditto
2-3 HP and it's been proven over and over too bad these guys don't actually test for themselves. :o|

I believe supertuner was the first to post information on this he had pictures of Dyno results for his ECP kit with which he was recommending the CR10EK's because he had seen the 2 - 3 HP difference. Send him a PM I'm sure he will be more than happy to chime in on this.

Yes, they are probably the same morons that designed the handwarmers both times as well as the junk bogie wheels they don't want to warranty because of stud use! :moon: :moon: :moon:
