Here's some pictures of the VX1R. The sled started out as a '06 Apex GT. I've been chipping away building this sled for the last year. It's my version of a true cross country style Apex based sled. I wanted to go with the Yamaha 40th Anniversary colors and a race theme for something a little different. I think that Blown Concepts who did the graphics really nailed the look that I was going for. Here's a list of some of the features:
Front suspension: Pioneer Performance lightweight wide A-arms and 13mm sway bar. Fox Float Evol shocks. Slydog race skis with Bergstrom triple point carbides.
Rear suspension: Based on a '07 RTX Pro-Active twin shock torsion spring skid with custom built and anodized 136" rails from Ice Age Mfg. Ohlins shocks from Pioneer Performance. Remote reservior with compression adjustment added to front shock by HyGear Suspension. Front shock spring and torsion springs are titanium by Renton Coil Springs. Torsion spring adjuster block is billet aluminum by Driven Products. 8" rear wheels are carbon fiber from Nextech. All idler wheels are Yamaha spoked accessory wheels.
Seat is from Mountain Mod with my own mods for better fit. Seat cover is from Skinz Protective Gear, along with the handlebar pad.
Tunnel extension is from gade-thrasher who's a TY sponsor and his Muffinworksltd.com company. Rear bumper with built in LED tail/brake light from Crazy Mountain Extreme. Mountain Apex tunnel pad cut to fit covers the top of the tunnel extension. Snow flap from B-Rad Custom Products, another TY sponsor.
Sled is painted with PPG Diamond White Pearlcoat. Graphics are designed and applied by Blown Concepts. Carbon fiber look air box cover from Skinz Protective Gear. Hand guards and handlebar riser along with the front number plate are from RoxSpeedfx. Windshield is a custom low cut from Cannon Classic Sleds. Handlebars are from a '07 Nytro. Track is a 14" wide X 136" Camoplast Freeride from TracksUsa. Ski Doo 9 tooth extrovert drivers.
Yet to come: a lightweight Hindle exhaust from the Custom Sled Shop.
When I'm done I'm hoping to have the sled come in with about the same weight as the new Nytro's.
I'll have the sled on display at the RoxSpeedFx booth in the vendor area this weekend at Hay Days if anyone wants to check it out.
Let me know what you think...............

- None, looking now!
Nice job. Now, I have to rip my sled all apart and start over. lol
Is Max. Performance around anymore? Can't find a web site. I also looked at CME for that rear bumper and they don't have it on their site? I suppose I could build the same thing myself, tho.
Are thise A0arms chromoly or aluminum? I was thinking about adding a wider kit on mine as well, but I am afraid it will be harder to tip while I am carving?
Awesome job. tho.
Like Familyman said, we should get all our custom sleds together, at keast for a ride. I could just see the gaukers. lmao....
