I just purchased 09 xp pilot skis. The yamaha rubbers arent even close to fitting the skidoo skis. Whats everyone doing to adapt these to the fx nytro?

you have to trim out the v part of the rubber intel the spindle fits in and you might need to heat the plastic on the ski to open it up enough to fit the bushings in easier its not much off but on my xtx i put Pilot mountains thats all i had to do heres a pic its not the best pic but i had it in another post click on the pic to enlarge it to see it better but you can kinda see how the plastic on the ski bows out alil thats were the heat gun can into play

So your modifing the skidoo rubber to fit the nytros spindles? As far as the spindle bushing not fitting, I was going to grind a bit off.

I heard that the Precision ski rubber is what you need, but let me know when you find out as I have a set of Pilots to go on my Nytro as well.

I just installed a set of Pilot Mountains on my '09 XTX. The regular trail version Pilot has the same mount set-up so either ski will mount. I experimented with the stock Yamaha rubber and the fitment to the Pilot ski was not even close. The stock rubber from the Pilot will not work either..not even close. I did some searching on this site and found a small blurb mentioning that a TY member used a Slydog ski rubber from their Nytro/Phazer mount kit. I ordered that kit and found that it works very well and is very solidly mounted with NO ski slop...none...just what you want!
On the Pilot ski the bolt bushing is normally pressed into the ski-bolt hole from the inside of the ski next to where the ski rubber mounts in the bottom of the ski. However, if you are mounting this Pilot ski on a Nytro you will have to remove both ski-bolt bushings and press them in from the outside of the ski. That means the "head" of the bushings will be on the outside of the ski.
The Slydog ski mount kit comes with, of course, the two rubbers, two spindle bolts, two lock nuts, and four ski bushings. I did not use the kit's ski bushings because the Pilot plastic thickness is narrower than the Slydog ski plastic and simply would not work correctly. Just use the rubbers from the kit and uses your stock Yamaha bolt and lock nut.

Good luck!!

Thanks, thats the info I was looking for. Are you guys running a single skag? It looks like you can add a second with some minor drilling.

You will definately want to use two runners per ski, otherwise the plastic on the outside edge of the ski will wear prematurely and ruin the ski...been there - done that!!

That makes sense. It looks simple to install the second one, any suggestions?
Did anyone that used the slydog rubber shim the ski at all???

There is no room for a shim. The rubber sits in the saddle of the ski and is VERY snug...a perfect fit!!

Use the precision ski rubbers for the pilots 5.7's on the nytro
Here is a pic
Part number is 506151233
Only thing I did to these was put a little groove in the bottom to match the tongue on the bottom of the pilot cup.

I ordered a set of ski rubbers from Royal, part #08-325-11, apparently for the Precision skis, however they don't look like the above pic at all. They look smaller, or should I say shorter in stature, and they are a symetrical 'V' pattern/shape, so turning them around won't give the ski any change in front/rear bias.
Will they work for my Nytro? Did I get/order the wrong ski rubber?
