Well, still no freakin' snow here and it is killing me. I did the full Kachess treatment and am DYING to get out and try it. Here is my list and some photos.

Gearing = 19/40
PP Skis
Open boards with board edge coolers and relocated rear cooler
Wildchild rider forward
Speedo relocation to bars
Battery relocation to belly pan
Hartman tunnel extension
159 track
Holz skid
SRX clutching
4" riser
Undertunnel glasspack with CC insert
Trunk
High lift jack
Extra seat and seat jack
Handguards
Barkbuster front suspension
Gas cans - mountain addiction
Grab strap - Powermadd
Rubbermaid airbox
Roll-over oil reservoir
Temp gauge in old handle bar location
Swiss cheese holes behind front shocks for air flow
Headlight and dash removed
Sway bar quick-release

It is all set up so that I don't have to carry a backpack (I don't ride avalanche areas) - all tools, water, jack, base, shovel, survival gear, tow rope, and first aid are carried somewhere on the sled itself.

Nice sled!

Too bad about your lack of snow but, misery enjoys company and we are pretty much high and dry as well. It's nothing like last year, that's for sure.

What is "Undertunnel glasspack with CC insert"?

I have a glass pack too but, I don't understand the "CC insert".

Frosty

So you just slide the baffles in the end and weld it up? Why would you need to run these? Just for sound?
Very nice job on the open boards. You will have to let us know how they stand up to bending / flexing when riding.

the baffle goes, ideally, upstream of the muffler. I am not sure if it is quieter but it definitely got rid of the resonance.

The boards seem stronger than stock when I jump on them, I used 1/8" aluminum for the inserts. We will see how they hold up if I ever get some snow.

Your sled looks awesome!! I love the open boards. I'm afraid to start chopping this close to what might be the start of the season or I'd try and do what you did. Our turbo has a MPI tunnel with edge coolers so I could try and open up it's boards. Where do you get the ready-made sections? Also, what is the tube ahead of the airbox? Is that your oil breather mod?

Thanks Kachess and thank you for all of your posts to help those of us that refuse to give up on the RX.

The board edges are from Fabcraft. The inserts are homemade - huge pain in the neck. I found out after-the-fact that Snow Eliminators offers some for the RX, I would have purchased them if I knew that they existed.

Yes, the tube attached to the airbox is to catch the oil from the crankcase on rollover and then pour it back in the crankcase when righted. Just made it out of some ABS that I had lying around, allows to maintain vacuum to the crankcase, and will hold about 350 ml of oil before overflowing into the airbox. I had a bad rollover while alone last year, sat upside down for about 20 minutes and lost about half a quart into the engine compartment. Made a mess and got some oil on the belt. Did not want to go through that again.

Seems like the jack would get ripped off in the first mile?

I like the tupperware airbox. I remember reading about that mod.

Those RX-1's make great project sleds. Seems like you can find them for cheap and then just tear into them to make'em what you want.

From looking at the photo it appears it would come in contact with the snow during tail landings, wheelies or in a steep transition at the bottom of a hill or ditch. Reason I brought it up is because it sticks out past the snowflap. I continually bent the aluminum snow flap bracket upwards on my Vector, and that's when it was a short track. My flap was always pushed way out from the track.

Now I see... I will keep an eye on it and cut off the couple of inches that stick out past the flap if it looks like it might cause a problem.

Put the first 40 miles on the the new setup today. No noises, leaks, or explosions. Hard to tell how much different that it performs because there were only a couple of feet of very loose dry snow with no base, had to stick to the road.

The open boards worked OK. The down-side is that when there is some snow to be kicked through the board, I would kick at it and the bottom of my boots would get caught on the teeth. I am not sure how I will address that.

The other thing is that I think that I lost some RPM - down below 10K - maybe due to the re-gearing?

The oil breather reservoir worked perfectly. Rolled over a couple of times when tangling with the berms from the snow plows, not a drop of oil in the air box or engine compartment.

RPM's

When you say SRX clutching... what exactly do you mean? Not sure if that's new this year, or if you ran that clutch set up last year... if new, I'd almost think that could cause the rpm dip more than the regearing.

And, chiming in w/ the others, very nice job on it, looks awesome!!!
