I was going to switch the spacers on the skis to widen the stance by moving the wider spacer to the outside of the ski and the shorter one to the inside to gain 1/8" per side. Has anyone tried running with both spacers on the outside of the spindle? This would gain 3/4" per side or overall a 1 1/2" wider ski stance. My thought is that it should help with darting and cornering.

There were a lot of people messing with these last year. I ran both spacers on the outside all last year. It does add more stress the the bolt and bushings on the inside of the spindle.

that's why this year, I made my own bushings to give about a 1" wider stance than stock. I have 1/4" bushings on the inside to prevent the skis from rubbing on the spindles.
I don't think you'll have an issue with the ski rub on spindle because the curve ski bushing has a flange on it (on the inside). my outlaws didn't have this flange & I had some rubin' going on.
Overall - I think widening really helped the sled to corner flatter. Didn't hurt - that's for sure.

If both pictures are of your left ski (photo #1 showing stock setting) it looks like you narrowed the ski stance..ralger said:

Both shims aren't the same size, but yamaha calls for the smaller to be on the outside like the first pix.
There must be a reason why theuse the smaller one out the outside thus making the stance smaller? Normally you would think the wider one would be on the outside...

Sorry guys, the stock picture is my left ski, the other picture is the right ski. I changed one and then took both pictures at the same time.
Bueballer - I noticed the bushings already have a little play in them (1,000 miles) before making the change. So, I don't know that it made it worse in your situation or not.
I thought I could always just add another washer on the inside if the ski if needed, but it looks like it shouldn't rub with the Curve skis.
Daranello - I assume there is a restriction on how wide the ski stance can be. Since most groomers are 8' wide, I believe the overall width has to be under 48" (outside of skis). By putting the smaller shim on the outside, they are able to widen the spindle stance while keeping the overall width within the restrictions. The stock ski stance on the Yammy is 42 1/4" to center of ski. I am now at 43 3/4" to center of ski and 51" to the outside of the Curves. Also, I was already having an issue with the skis hitting my other sled on the trailer, now I will have to overlap them to get them to fit on the trailer.

i put the spacers on the outside (on both the phazer and the nytro), it felt more stable with the wider stance. have not seen any wear issues but i only get a very short riding season
