i am thinking about clutching my 09 vector. what is the best set up for aggressive trail riding?

I really like Ulmer's clutch kit. It is so easy to adjust (if needed) and adds a ton of pull to the mid range (stock clutching is soft and lets the belt slip too much causing over-rev and loss of performance).

I looked at Pioneers website, and Ulmers, at the clutch kits for the '06 Nytro. Ulmers makes no mention of a secondary spring, just the primary and the helix and the weights. Pioneer's includes the weights, the primary, helix, and the secondary.
The Ulmer kits is $ 375.00, and the pioneer is $ 239.95, both prices are + shipping. Besides the $ 135.00 difference, what does the Ulmer do different, or better, than the Pioneer?

Thanks,
Nick

The Ulmer kit uses billet aftermarket weights that are adjustable by using 1 gram washers for any future modifications or a different sled. The Pioneer kit uses OEM Yamaha weights in which you have to drill out rivets if you need to make changes.

The adjustable STM weights in Ulmer's kits are very nice and they show virtually no wear after 4000+ miles on my sled. I added a gram or two to accomodate my riding style.

Thanks, What about the secondary spring, is there one, or the stock spring stays?

Thanks,
Nick

We maintain the stock secondary spring.

Does either clutch kit eliminate that nasty engine braking when you let the gas all the way off?

I have an 07 Rage and just can't get use to it NOT rolling through the corners like a 2 stroke

I love the engine braking on my 4 stroke. G.B.

New to the 4 strokes. Does it kick in only when you let off all the way, or just part of the way?

Thanks,
Nick

The Ulmer Racing will eliminate the engine braking to almost none. It gets rid of 98% of it.

Looks like I'll be buying a clutch kit. I'll call in the morning.

Thanks,
Nick

I just got off the phone with Alan Ulmer, an ordered a clutch kit for my Nytro. What a great guy to do business with. I'm looking forward to getting it in the sled, and trying it out this Dec.

Let me know what you think of it, and how it differs from stock. Wondering the same clutch kit for my Vector Mountain.

Going by your page, you only offer the stage2 correct?

I've never had good luck with clutch kits on my 2strokes.
They seem to always help really good in one way, but have a bad effect in another.
By eliminating the engine braking, will that cause any adverse effect on the motor / mpg / hard re-engagement when you get back to the gas / etc.?
