Not even 600 miles on it and it let go. Headed back to the truck after a hard day of playing and poof it blew. I was 2 miles from the truck running about 80 mph when it let go.

Here is the belt i just blew while riding over seven feet of new snow!!!
Luckily, I had a spare. After close to an hour of pulling cords out that were wrapped around the primary, I was back at it!!
1000 miles on the belt..it was ready to go.
It was so violent when it blew I thought I grenaded the motor!!

Ditch the stock belts and put an Ultimax XS belt on. They are not as hard as a stock belt and are designed for performance. Just my 2 cents

Thought I remember seeing a lot of people complaining about blowing those? Maybe my memory is fading though?

Same thing happened to me with the stock belt. Swithced to the Ultimax XS and good to go around 1200 miles so far, no issues.

swapped out that belt.... Think the replacement was used....Pulled out all the shredded cords. Meant to clean rubber off the sheaves when I got home and hit sheaves with emery paper but never did.
Just rode two more days of light pow, then one day of the wettest heaviest snow I have ever experienced.... Got back to the trailer and pulled the belt cover off to find the replacement (again I think it was used when it went on) totally delaminated. I'll check the sheave offset and belt height in secondary with the new belt I have. Anything else I should check???

i found that the vector i had would not run a stock belt at all. I mean 50 miles maybe out of a belt. I put a ultimax 3 belt on and no problems at all. in fact i still ride with that sled and it still has the same ultimax belt.
The issue with the stock belt is that it is such a hard composition that it allows slip and therfor heat.
I have not had any belt problems so far with my nytro.
in that past i never had any luck with the dayco belts but they work on the vector i used to have

I put a new Dayco HPX belt on my RS Venture. Literally nothing left of it after 2000 km's. Put on another one, and it's wearing bad after 400km's. I now have a brown residue all over the engine, body, etc. near the clutch. I've never had this with a Yamaha belt, even with 6000 km's on them. Switched to Dayco because of the price. If Yamaha belts last 5000-8000km's, it's obviously time to switch back.

Problem with nonfactory belts is they are WAY harder. Clutches dont grab them like the 8DN or 89L.. They do last, but dont preform as well imo. I have only blown 3-4 belts in the last 8 years including none on my turbo sled or Mountain Max Mod.
I blew my first belt in years a couple of weeks ago-155 miles after i boosted the sled
But-i did not handle it with care in any way, started with absolutely no break in, just WOT from day 1 and the day i blew it was a day comitted to powder...
I did however find out that a large amount of snow find its way into the left foot vent behind the drive clutch. Im at whis point trying out a new clutchsetup with Supertip weights thats regarding to other are supposed to make a significant improvement in belt life.
Closing off every hole is allso in pipeline...

Just blew my first belt in 2530 miles. Looked good last week when I checked but the last two days of riding was in pow and all vents were plugged right up the hole day. I am guessing with the intake vents being plugged and the foot well vents plugged the belt got hot. Only delaminated though as the top layer busted off. Just purchased a vent kit to keep things cooler.
